buying shotgun shells in US

Just wondering if it is legal to bring back shotgun shells from U.S?

I know rifle ammo is not allowed for sure, how about shells?

It is illegal for a non-American citizen to purchase ammunition in the US. It is illegal for a vendor in the US to aell an Alien ammunition. That being said, under Canadian law you are allowed to bring in 5000 rounds per day. You will be required to pay Canadian taxes on your purchase. I do buy shotgun shells in the US by going to a large sporting goods store where the ammow is kept on a serve yourself counter shelf. I put what I want in a cart -- take it to the checkout and pay in Amarican funds (no cards). I am very careful to obey all speed limits etc.. If you are stopped by the American police for some reason and are found to have ammow in your possession, you will go to jail

it is legal to buy and posses if you buy a US hunting licence. (some states are only $20 or so)

but still illegal to export.

It sure would suck to get stopped at one of the border checkstops I heard they are doing now, with a couple of cheap trap cases, only to have your car impounded and spend the weekend in jail.

Also to discuss violating the American export laws (No matter how retarded) is in violation of gunnutz rules.

As most have stated, it is not legal to export ammo from the USA without a proper export permit (US law, not to be confused with Canadian import law which is totally separate).

I've found the cheapest hunting licenses available online to be from North Dakota.
