Hello everyone, I plan to get a SWFA Super Sniper after seeing zero negative reviews.

I talked with the company and the they have been very nice. However, they are unsure about the duties and taxes on our side.

Does anyone have an idea how much extra will I pay on taxes? Thank you!!

For your information:

The 10*42 scope rear focus is 299.99 USD plus shipping 72.13 USD. Other scopes should have the same ship fee unless they are way heavier.

SWFA offers a transferable lifetime warranty.

live anywhere near a border town? over 70USD to ship, when they offer it free in the USA. Most border towns have a store (often UPS) that will receive packages for Canadians and charge a small fee...mine in Ogdensburg NY charges me just $5 to receive a package. I just drive down, pick up my packages, grab whatever else i need, fill the tank up with cheap gas, and simply declare it at the border...often no taxes charged either! they just wave you through

I’ve never seen better glass for less than 2 grand. The optical clarity in my SWFA fixed 10 rivals that of my Schmidt & Bender PMII 5-25, and both track perfect.

Thank you Tokay, I have tried hard to find remarks against SWFA but there was none. Some people said they used SWFA fixed 10 or 12 for 600+ yards.

Anyway the lowest price is $400 CAD plus shipping plus HST. Shipping is a pain. In this budget range, Leupold VX-Freedom also has almost perfect feedback, but I still prefer the reticle of SWFA.

If I add another $600 I can get a SWFA 3-15, but my wife will throw me out of the window.

They will use a courier, but I will call them to negotiate about the shipping. I bought some pet supplies from US, charging 19.99 for shipping.

Good advice. Thank you very much.

I will call them to negotiate about the shipping method and price. If they choose USPS, it should not be that expensive. Going to a border town is not feasible at present.

I ordered a couple SWFA scopes from them and am very happy. The 3-15x42 and a 10x. Great glass for the money, excellent tracking and built like a tank. Shipping was more than I expected, but overall still a bargain.

Hi Guys, thanks for the discussion.

I tried with USPS quote. If the package is 50*30*30 cm and 2 lbs, then the Priority Mail International is 42.20 USD. The price remains the same for a tighter pack.

A rifle scope cannot be delivered with regular package because of the export permit, so SWFA's quote is high but not unreasonable, but I just sent them an email to negotiate.

I bought a SWFA 10X in May & November and my fees were $28.78 CAD prior to delivery. I bought mine on their Black Friday (November) and Memorial Day (May) sale weekends which keeps it around $500 CAD (with the Butler Creek scope covers) all said and done.

600 yards is just warming up.

So you're talking #### about something you've never even looked through, or you've never looked through an S&B?

I'm saying if you believe the optic quality between the two is the same, you should both get your eyes checked, as well as sell your overpriced S&B. You know how many SWFAs you could have bought with that money?

The most recent purchase I made about a month ago, 16x42, scope $299,- US, UPS shipping $61,- US and PST & GST in Cad$$$. By the time all was said and done I was in it for just under $600 Cad. Final numbers vary due to exchange rate. It came in 4 days. My take is, if you know you'll eventually want more than 1, bite the bullet and get more of them because the shipping will be either same or very similar for 1 or 2 units. Each scope you get costs you about $100 Cad in shipping so if you split it into 2 units, the deal gets sweeter.
