Get yourself on to Swissrifles.com and find out all about it - Carlos is the main Canadian poster there. I look after the guys on VCRAI.com.
There is just SOOOOOOO much to find out.
The IG11 - the so-called longer infantry rifle, is sweeter to shoot, but has at least 30 years head-start in the barrel wear stakes. Not that this matters overly-much - they mostly show a remarkable level of accuracy that is probably better than any other milsurp gun ever made anywhere, unless you count the 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. MOA is perfectly normal with GP11.
The K31 is a completely different animal to any of its predecessors, and will still amaze you even after more than thirty years of shooting - as it does me.
The milsurp GP11 ammunition is the best military surplus ammunition on the planet, bar none - and we use it over in Switzerland as 300m three-positional match grade stuff.
Swiss Products [mornin' Latigo] makes a range of clamp-on mounts for scopes or diopters, as well as a very effective clamp or screw-on muzzle brake - it's a kicker, BTW. Launching that 174gr bullet at over 2500 fps is not done without some level of commotion at both ends. There is a also an effective clamp-on bipod device. This stuff is all available from Brownells down below, but perhaps Carlos can advise where to get it from in Canada. For lefties, there is even a left-hand operating system for around the USD$200 mark - compare that with the price of the Swiss-made item at around eu450...
As for accessories for the K11/IG1900, there is a clamp-on scope mount in the course of preparation for this series of Schmidt-Rubin arms, but not the Model of 1889. Latigo advises us that THIS mount will go on the left-hand side of the receiver, and like the others, does not need tapping or drilling.
Privi Partizan make a 174gr cartridge in 7.5x55 Swiss - some like it and the brass is good for many reloads. Others buy it just for the brass, which is also the same brass as supplied to Graf's, and consider the round itself to be a wimp by comparsion with the real deal. In my Swiss guns it shoots between 250-280 fps slower than GP11.
