Sorry to report the following...

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/bulletins/bus-ent/20110323-72-eng.htm

Example 2*: The Ruger BX-25 magazine, chambered for 22 LR calibre, is designed and manufactured for use in the Ruger SR22 rifle, the 10/22 family of rifles/carbines and the 22 Charger handgun. As a result, this magazine is a prohibited device unless modified so its capacity is 10 cartridges or less. (*This information was not included in the original version of this bulletin, but was added on 2013-09-05.)

So just cause its designed for a handgun and rifle its illegal yet other mags are exactly the same?

It was all in the labelling of the package to start with. The other makers of 10/22 mags never mentioned use with SR22 and the Charger 22 which exempts these mags from the prohibition.

Ironic eh!! 😡

Same thing happened to the S&W M&P 15-22 clips, when S&W came out with the pistol version of the rifle.
Had to turn them in or get them modified to 10 rounders.

Eh, it's the same thing that's letting us get away with the LAR 15 mags. Packaging and labelling. Accept the stupidity for now, and buy some Butler Creek mags instead. Or the GSG 110 round drum mag that's perfectly legit. Then open up your wallet, throw some cash at the NFA or CSSA, and write a letter to a politician reminding them that the firearms act is a load of bull###t.

Bass Pro in Vaughn Ontario is currently selling them, and has been for a couple months. That's where the confusion stems from.

Bass pro may be selling them, this does not make the mag legal to possess unless pinned. How the mags got into the Canadian market is up to the authorities to sort out. I personally would walk away from buying one, not worth the headache with the legality side of it.

Like i said, this is where the confusion stems from because the packaging makes no reference to the charger pistol anymore.

I'm sorry but when weren't they prohibited?

They always were because they were designed and manufactured for the 10/22 and Charger pistol. Anything that they put charger pistol on is limited to 10 rounds. Silly but that's what happened when ruger made the stupid pistol. Now other magazines were designed and manufactured for everything else and since they made them for a certain firearm it's ok ie they make it for the 10/22 regardless of what it works in it was designed and manufactured for the rifle only. Like the XCT pistol magazines they were made for the pistol version the other ones for the rifle and since they work in both because they're the same freaken thing just designed and manufactured for 1 of the 2 it's legal.

It's kind of silly but that's what happened.

They made a BDX 25 X2 which is 2 magazines and for Canada they made a BDX 50 and it's labled 50 and has no wording of charger in it just sr22 and 10/22 and the bolt action rifle.
