With the success of the .300 Blackout cartridge as an autoloader round adopted in the AR15 platform by a number of manufacturers, there has been a lot of interest in the quiet, low-recoil, punchy round getting a foothold in the compact bolt action market as a companion rifle for precise game and target shooting. Remington heard the calls for this and delivered a 700 in the .300 Blackout chambering with a 5-round capacity, Hogue ghille green overmolded stock, and a threaded 16" barrel for handy brush work. Dan/Gary, sorry to hijack this thread but do you know of the following... is there a black version of this rifle? If I wanted a random Remington product do you guys special order it for the customer? And lastly, do you know of any XM2010's or Remington MSR's coming for civilian sales?

Why exactly do people want a .300 blackout rifle in the first place? We aren't allowed to have suppressors, so why is this cartridge of interest to so many? Just curious, not trying to be negative towards it.
 
Seems like a high price compare else where I saw.
I bought mine for $759 locally.

Anyway, the 300 Black out makes a great deer gun. Loading 30 cal bullets into a trimmed 223 case is awesome compare to 243.
Slow bullet velocity minimize meat damage while you get all the bullet choices of 30 cal (make your own loads)
Low recoil, shooting with comfort.

For the same reason people want 7.62x39mm bolt guns and .30-30 WCF lever guns. Intermediate .30 cal. ballistics in a compact and highly portable firearm.

Same size and weight s/a rifle as the .308 version...load .308 down to achieve the same results if recoil is an issue....

You're making an assumption that everyone reloads their own ammunition. While a great number of us do, that's not always the case.

If everyone felt the way you do, there'd be no such thing as .22-250 Remington or .223 Remington bolt guns. Afterall, what's the point when you can simply down load the .220 Swift in a rifle of comparable size?
 
Even without a supressor you can load to subsonic levels heavy bullets. It's way less noisy if you want to make things quiet. I think 300 BLK is an amazing cartridge. You can make any kind of loads. For the ones who usually hunt with ear protection, no need at sub levels, you can hear all the action...
 
Sadly being a US production gun its got that long 16" barrel. :p


Since we in Canada are limited to OAL rather than barrel length (in manually cycled arms) I would like to see a 12-14" barrelled rig. After all the round was designed to work in not only the 14.5" barrelled M4 but also shorter (9" barrel) setups.


Also needs to accommodate regular AR mags as well. I can see the 16" barrel for USA but really, to not use AR mags seems foolish to me.
 
It's a Remington 700, why would an AR mag conversion be worth the time or effort when AICS mag conversions are available?

I have a short barrelled (11.5") bolt gun and with supers it's loud. There's an appreciable difference in perceived noise to the shooter when you go under 16" in length. Besides, have you handled one yet? The 16" bolt gun handles very well and is compact. I'd build another 16" bolt gun again any day.

Just another $$$ round for the commando wannabees!!!

Without a suppressor this round is no better then a nice 7.62x39 rifle/ammo combo.

.300 Blackout pros...

- it suppresses well...IF your using sub sonic rounds (hand loading or even more $$$ ammo)
- less issues when running in AR-15 platforms then x39 (but its really a crappy magazine and/or poorly made franken-gun issue!!!) - MOOT point as we cannot hunt with ARs here nor are you going to combat with it...
-You can pretend to be special forces at the range and impress the cool cats who hang out there!!!

.300 Blackout cons...

- $$$ ammo and brass
- almost no gun stores carry it..only a few online dealers do...and rarely, this is Canada after all!!!
- HAVE to reload if you wanna keep shooting it "cheap"
- Is ###

So taking all that...your getting this (silly) round...for a BOLT gun...that you cannot use a can on and any bolt gun worth more than $32 should feed rounds reliably. Get a .308Win and down load it if you want to shoot baby loads to save your shoulder and match this new poopy hipster round...you can do everything this round can do (not much) and more with it.
