Just picked this one up today I wont at auction. I didn't have a look at the gun before I bought it but I was told it had 'nazi' markings on it so I took a chance. when I picked it up today I couldn't believe it was an all numbers gun and not an RC as far as I can tell. the bore is perfect too.( it also came with an original US M1907 sling)
its a C block BYF 43. check out the pics! on the last pic there are some markings looks like an r inside a w and such. anyone know what these are? they are on the bottom of the receiver.

Damn it. I'd safely written off auctions as a waste of time, and now you've gone and reinfected me with The Fever. Thanks a lot, pal...:)

GREAT score for what you paid. I assume the wood is bubba'd?

The RW stamp is a very common marking on Mauser Orberndorf rifles. My 42 code (1938) and by byf44 have it all over them. If you look closely enough, you're bound to find it on other small parts.

Not sure what it stands for though.

on the marking I was thinking reichswerk maybe or something like that?

your not wrong about auctions. they are always hit or miss. the spring one I got nothing and prices were crazy. then this auction i could have left with 5 fantastic guns but I still had a budget.

I already made back $50 on the mauser. I sold the sling! the stock is a bishop stock really nice. its up for sale too.

Making some money back already! Nice! I picked up a nice RC rebarrel mix master with an IDF sling for close to 600,so you did well. What are your plans for it? Correct hardware and wartime stock?

I found some more numbers!

i'm going to try and get it back to how it looked. I have a repo stock that will have to do until I find a laminated one. the stock is going to end up costing more then the whole rifle! when I have it put together I will post a pic.

The WR mark is just an internal inspection stamp for Mauser Oberndorf. You'll find it on all sorts of parts produced by MO from about 1938 and on.

Nice score on the byf 43 by the way. how about some pics of the wood and serials on it? Edited to add that I didn't notice it came in a Bishop sporter stock. So not all matching but still a great deal.

You can see the WR on the rear sight just below the serial. I think there's one on your firing pin as well. Check the safety, bolt sleeve, and floor plate as well. I've found the WR inspection stamp on those places on my MO rifles.

How about some of the other waffenamts on parts? I'd imagine lots of e/140 parts. How is the bolt marked? MI and e/140? Is there an X on the bottom of the bolt handle root? Look closely. Some of the markings are small and/or poorly struck sometimes.

Decent price for a matching barrelled action.
Get a stock and bands from mario and you're set. But do it quick, not so plentiful anymore.

It would be nice if you can find one. I thought I saw some repros online at some US suppliers. Also, I wonder if Liberty tree collectors in NY may have what you need?

Mario is out of ALL cupped or M-O cupped?

The K98k world is going to change if he's out of wood. No more quick restos!
If that's the case I'd grab whatever I could from him IF I had gun to resto.

I was lookign for an MO stock, but literally the last one he had left was a laminate cupped steyr stock (My guess is off a BNZ43) devoid of marking with a walnut HG. The price was also higher than usual, but since it was the last one I grabbed it. In his e-mail he was clear that no more were comming.

It had a few issues like a crack in the inletting I had to glue. It's also been sanded more than any other Mario stock I've had. All external markings erased.

That's why I bought a couple extra MO stocks off the bay. Once ppl realize nice norwegian wood is a thing of the past, the RC and yugo stocks will jump up to at least that price point.

I think he has some flat buttplate stocks left, but that's it.

I reckon Boyd's makes K98 stocks just like they make the $99 Boyd's Garand stock that you see on all the "put together" Garands on the EE.

Just Boyd It - The K98 Boyded!
