C-96 mauser and her variants

id shoot nothing but low power loads with cast bullets in the ond mausers handloading is about the only way your not going break one

the 7.63 mauser is real good for low power rounds

id say the other rounds are too hot for the mausers

I've fired the fiocchi 7.63 mauser rounds out of both the 10 rounders with no hiccups. The 7.63 mauser cartridge was one of the highest velocity pistol cartridges until .357 magnum came to be.

The chinese .45ACP c-96 is exceptional, but a bit cruder in comparison.
They made them for ammo logistics reasons and while to be compatible for their thompson knock offs at the time.

I could understand for the collector and wanting to preserve their upper assembly. I want to as well. The thing is though, the whole idea is to run off a whole new upper, internals for the upper and barrels. Run these new ones off the antique lowers.

the 7.62x25 is alot faster and thats been around for a while (dont ever shoot the 7.62x25 in the 7.63x25 mauser its way too hot and will crack the bolt)

for a antique c96 your going to pay $4000+

i dont think any of the 9mm,.45 acps are antique only a faw pre 1898 C-96 mausers here in canada the pre 1898 c-96s in the US are not antique over there there a modern pistol

Firearms Canada currently has a 1896 Broomhandle for $800.

By the vendors description it does not sound like it's actually antique or pre 1898 production conehammer c96. Nonetheless depending on condition it could be a decent buy of a later version. Shame the vendor did not post any pics.

Here's a pictoral comparison between a 1911 Commercial in .30 Mauser, and a 1915 9mm wartime:

The 7.63 Mauser had to have inspired the 7.62x25mm Tok round :yingyang: , at least in part.....

it did but the russian 7.62x25 is way hotter then the 7.63x25 and the surplus czech stuff we have here(its more common than any other 7.62x25 here) is even hotter and should not be used in anything else but the CZ-52 and SMG's

Agreed....:)...just don't forget that the TT-33 of course can "also" handle the 7.62x25mm ! ;)...

Never shoot any surplus 7,62 X 25 in any C-96 YES BUT....but it doesn't mean not to buy them.
You can invest in a bullet puller, remove the bullets, discard the powder and reload to approx 1200-1350 fps either with the same powder or bulleyes ''et voilà'' ! cheap safe ammo for your C-96
Remember to clean your gun well immediately after shooting as the primers on most of the surplus are corrosive. And you don't have to bother to recup the shells after as they are berdan.
That's my trick:evil:
