Hi all,

I picked up a bunch of .223 brass with the headstamp C J 95. I understand that's its reloadable Chinese brass. Is it worth reloading, and if so, do I treat it as military brass and knock around 5% off powder load?
Thanks for any and all help,

Great brass for reloading. When you do, set up your decapping pin so that it is a bit loose. Some of the flash holes are off center. Mind you, all you have to do is look inside to see which aren't centered.

The powder used by the Chinese weighs exactly the same as my favorite BLC2 load and chronographs very closely as well. The primers they use are also quite hot. I have to use magnum small rifle primers to match their velocities with my hand loads.

Ball powders should be ignited with magnum primers for efficient/consistent burns IMHO.

I just used up the last 20 rounds of reloads from the last batch of 100. This batch has had 5 reloads on each case and it still looks good. I am going to re anneal it anyway. Just makes things easier in the long run.

I used about a hundred of them in a bolt gun last summer. They actually seemed pretty good, but I had eight or ten with neck splits on the second firing. They were fired in a type97 to begin with if it makes a difference.

Maybe anealing would have helped, but I scrapped them just the same.
