i heard some things were going on...

Mark from Questar has provided this info (on his website)

We have known for several months that CProducts, LLC had run into serious corporate and financial problems and were shutting down. We were asked to keep this information confidential... but at this point we feel that consumers have a need to know about this.

The CProducts, LLC company website is gone and replaced with a notice that it is going to be the "Future site of LCJ Wholesalestore" (the son of one of the previous owner/partners).

Though the old CProducts "store" website is still running, they are simply selling off old inventory and returned goods. Their manufacturing ability is gone.

We have known about this for some time and have been working behind the scenes to finalize agreement with a new supplier for these products (including the LAR-15 Ten Round AR Pistol Magazines which were made exclusively for Questar by CProducts).

The collapse of CProducts, LLC has resulted in a short supply of a variety of magazines (including Questar's LAR-15 ten round AR Pistol magazines)... but we expect that shortage to be resolved in the next 60 days or so.

So. Where do we get cheap mags now? They were under $20 each from C Products.

Any other U.S source for us??

How on earth does a company making AR-15 parts go bankrupt?! The US is still buying AR parts like they're made of gold. What are they doing at C-products? Snorting gold dust in the lunchroom!?

For what I've seen on US forums people are mostly sporting pmags and emags. I rarely see C-products mags. But this is just my personal observation.

Seems ammosc.com is what replaced C-products. Adress looks the same from memory, products are similar, price a bit higher.

I didn't search to get the full story behind the change. Who's gonna contact them to know if they make pinned mags and ship to Canada?

@ Questar:

Have you ID'd your new LAR-15 mag supplier? Can you share who it will be? And will the mags be identical, or slightly different (or very different)?

My friend in Ct is trying to buy their machinery rght now.

What machinery? CProducts is insolvent and at this point has nothing except debt.

They owed over a million dollars to suppliers and were unable to pay their debts... one of the suppliers sued them and won a court award which transferred ownership of most of their equipment, Intellectual Property Rights and some inventory to that Plaintiff.

At this point ASC owns it all and is gearing up production of various magazines.

I wonder how C-products got into so much trouble? Only thing I can figure is that the P-mag has revolutionized the metal AR15 mag market. They had the Colt contract for 9mm SMG mags, but at hte price of the Colt product, my understanding is most US customers went to the Metalform mags as an alternative.

The Canadian market would have been only a tiny fraction of their production.

Mark, please don't get your knickers in a bind! I got an email from Ct stating that there were some machinery that was available by the trustee. ASC most probably has gotten the majority of everything. I have not even investigated what or how much etc in the details. I am not interested but V is. We will see where everything lands. I know that A-M is aggressive and very succesfull with the US military, the Marines among others and on a World marketing strategy and has had some good numbers even in Canada.

Need to know more, PM me!

Regards,
Henry;)

Likely overextended themselves during the boom, then were left holding the bag.

How could they not get into trouble? They tried to offer mags in every possible caliber, length and material. Not to mention they decided to make their own anti tilt followers in all of those calibers instead of sticking with existing (Magpul) products. Trying to make all those different configurations has to be expensive.

Metalform has been the Colt OEM supplier for 9mm mags from day one. When CProducts became the supplier it was likely due to the cheaper cost but they went back to Metalform when all the complaints started rolling in.

Not according to the info I have. Colt is only switching back to Metalform since C-products went out of business. Just a month ago, Colts were still selling C-prod mags as their house brand and new Colt 9mm's are still being sold with C-prod mags.

And from what I have read, the only complaints were from guys specifically running either RRA lower purpose-built receivers or RRA inserts. The other brands did not seem to be as affected. Colt and RRA issued some sort of service bulleting about the mag inserts being position-sensitive with those products if I recall.

Now that being said, Metalform did have a better rep, but they don't make LAR-15 mags ! :(

What I really want is a single-stack LAR15 mag to get it longer for grip and handling purposes, or one with a false-extension to at least a 5/20 length, but still take 10 rds.
