What was the model number of the old IR scope with the large emitter above the tube ? I've just had a brain f*rt and cannot remember or find it anywhere. These were the old first generation packed in the case almost the size of a barracks box.
TIA

Would this be it?:D

AN/PAS 4

I'm still hoping an ex FCS Tech can help in getting mine running..... Hint.;)

That's the one...and I just found my old manuals for it along with some spare light source emitter bulbs. Got rid of the unit 25 years ago.
The US designation was VARO 9903 and ours was the AN/PAS4

I keep hoping that someday all of us PAL holders may one day be able to own an FN rifle. I was born too late to get in on the prohibited goodies, so can only drool at your shameless FN ####!

im just wondering where you got the canadian fn? they were mostly all smelted in ahmerst nova scotia in the late 80's early 90's. i know the tech ( now a civie) who was there watching them and bren guns, stens go into the smelter. i bet the story behind this fn is pretty unique.

Look at the serial number and that should give you the clue where it came from :)##
There are also three initials on the receiver as well.
There was a small lot legally sold in Ontario a long time ago.

That big intensifying IR light on top is no match for any of the current IR lights that are available now. Surefire Vampire and the Torch will fry this monster. The Torch is out of the old Soviet block, Belarus I think. The Russians probably had to have good lights to make up for their crappy intensifier tubes of the day.

This PAS4 is new, just got to figure out what I am doing wrong with it.

The 502 is another story. For the money, it works great. About the equivalent to the US AN/PVS-4. Fantastic piece of kit.

Mind you, on the C1A1, it was weird. However, put a picattini (sp) mount on it, and you end up with a perfect cheek weld and sight alignment for any other, including AR, platform.

I installed an Israeli reticule after removing the Canadian one. I love it.

All the Canadian ones were US. Just our's were within a certain serial number range as indicated by the Canadian manuals. There wasn't any particular markings on them to ID as Canadian. At least the bunch I have seen.

Does yours work?
