C1A1 serial numbers, how did they work?

Where's the crying smiley :(

I wish I could own one of those. I was at a collectors home a couple of weeks back and he had an FNC1, he let me fiddle around with it. It was like messing with a long lost love.. LOL

Mine is an Ex-OPP, S/N is 8L2369....anyone have a close relative?

Date stamp is CAL 1968, and the OPP stamping is X'd over. It's one of the 300-ish? that got re-imported.

Arrived today....haven't had time for pics yet....expect a pictoral investigation over the weekend perhaps.

Such a beautiful rifle. Man I wish I had one of those. The prohibition of these is no less a cirme that prohibitions of Enfields in Great Britian. I was born too late to be a real gun nut. ####ing cocksucking 12.X bull####

Navyshooter I was at the warehouse back in the day when Ross W first brought the C1A1's back from England he had a one weekend sale when you could buy a C1A1 for $799.00 but on the following Monday they were going up to over $1000.00 .I spoke to him at gunshow the week before the sale to get him to hold a consecutive pair for me but he forgot so what he did was give me the pair he had picked for himself .I still have his ad from the paper it caused quite a sensation.BTW what was really cool was the pink Sherman tank he had in the warehouse

- I fired FNC1 3L8424 in competition in the seventies.
- I carried FNC2 3LA510 in Germany for awhile.
- On Basic Para 7402, our "jump" FNs were EX 1's. They were a bit beat up, after having augered-in from 1000 feet once or twice!

Here is the latest FN which I have added to the collection, an EX1. It has been around the block, the rear stock is off another rifle (wood is serialed) and has been patched to boot.
