Hi Guys ,

Just found this forum , good to see so many that like the old Parker Hale rifles , I live in New Zealand , and way back in around 2003 , saw my 1st real pic of a C3A1 rifle , and liked IT , good to see a neat scope like the Unertl on something other than a Rem700 M40A1 .

When I saw a mint 2nd hand Parker Hale M87 in .243 in the UK , & at a cheap price , decided to buy straight away & then get another MST-100 just for that build , at that stage I did not know that the special PH C3A1 scope mount was all but impossible to buy at any price ( lucky I did not know , as I would maybe not have even started this idea of a C3A1 build ) , also luckly to be a REAL stubborn ba$%#*d , think that helped as well .

Had trouble finding anything out about the C3A1 rifle , let alone info or pics of the unusall scope mount , thats until I got the book by Clive on the rifles used by Canada , I photocopied the side on pic of the C3A1 mount , and blew it up to life size , and had no othe info on the mount .
Had almost given up on ever getting info or a mount , had contacted all the usuall PH sources in the UK , and come up empty .
The saw a pic of one that had been welded to a cheap 22lr rifle in the US , he did not know what it was , and was selling the rifle & mount together , I told him I would take IT , and did ot care about the rifle , and asked him to grind it off , and make sure he did not grind the mount as thats all I wanted , he did just that , BUT when I got IT , it was severly butchered , and had lost a lot of metal , so worse than I had thought , But at least I had it .

The mount was the hardest to find , and I just lucked onto it , by chance one day , then as I had that , I was determined to get a original PH barrel in 308 to re-barrel the M87 ( 243 ) , found some in the UK , both TX1200 profile , M84 & M85 , BUT the std TX1200 is a 1-14 , and I wanted/needed a 1-12 , so as to use the heavier bullets that the scope is cammed for , so back to square one again .

Then heard just as I was going to get a NZ made barrel fitted , that the old PH hammer forging barrel machines , where up and running again , so got in touch and had a couple of brand new barrels in the right twist I wanted & the right profile etc .

Anyway , here's some pics of her , almost DONE , needs a correct stock , & the extractor blued , but had to shoot her ASAP .

Beauty of a rifle. Guess ya gonna run into some good luck every so often. Not gonna lie and say I ain't envious of your location. Friend of mine moved to NZ last Jan, bought a bike and she pretty much rode through almost all of NZ. Now she's hooked up with a Kiwi and I don't think she's got plans on coming back to Canada anytime soon. Can't say don't I blame her. lol
