C7 vs. Ak-47 and the winner is...

Old No.1MkIII Enfields used to do very fine work on russian soldiers when they were the targets of opportunity, a few decades ago. And no flak vest could stop a MkVII.
Afghans liked these old rifles because they could reach far out and make life miserable for their AK-toting adversaries.
Besides, they could be repaired easily.
Now, comparing the AK and C7, I guess that, given the conditions in which these firearms will be used and "cared for", the C-7s will quickly become as unreliable as their old AKs.
Time will tell...

Seems AK jam far more often that the AR type rifle! See below.

Description:

After a frustratingly long three-year wait, the fledging Afghan National Army finally has a new weapon in its arsenal: the Canadian C7 rifle. Some 42 boxes of surplus weapons arrived at the ANA base just up the road from Kandahar Airfield last week, Brig.-Gen. Gul Aqa said Wednesday in an interview with The Canadian Press. And training is already underway. Aimed at replacing the Afghan army's old Soviet-era AK-47s in order to bring the force's fire power capabilities in line with that of NATO countries, the Canadian rifles are a welcome addition, Aqa said. "They're very modern and new weapons and the C7 is a real necessity for the ANA," he said through a translator. He said the AK-47s often jam, leaving soldiers vulnerable to enemy fire. "It's the difference between old and new." It's a project that's been in the works for several years.

Lets put things in to perspective here. They've got soviet era AK's that I'd say have probably fired in excess of 20,000 rounds a piece without replacement parts. Of course they're gonna jam compared to new rifles.

I really don't understand what you guys are talking about. Cleaning an AR-15 is so easy a kid could do it let alone Afghan soldiers.

A kid could do it, but keep the same analogy in mind: give a twelve year old an AR, and unless you force him to make it habit, will he clean it?

Neither will these Afghan soldiers, unless their Canadian-provided training changes years and years of bad habits.
