If you think a C7A2 is front heavy, try a Robson Arms XCR in 223.
you get used to it
people get to bisliey just fine with it
dionsaurs couldn't adapt and look what happened to them
But what else am I supposed to spend my paycheques on? :S
I find the C7A2 to be very forend heavy when I'm using it, more so than the A1, for this reason I have been glad my reserve unit has not replaced our A1s.
This week however the new A2s have arrived. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestion for balancing out the A2? Specfically I'm looking at alternate stocks I could use.
Does anyone have any experience with the Magpul UBR?

And can anyone think of any actual useful attachments for the tri rail on the front? I'm thinking tactical beer bottle opener....![]()
Dinosaurs are the reason we have the C7A2 abortion.

I carried an A2 with an M203 for several months. It'll definitely change your perspective on the rifle being "poorly balanced".
Either that, or do some more pushups. I don't mean that as a slight. Upper body strength and muscular endurance are important.

The money thing is a bit of an unrealistic argument. To build a C7A1 into a C7A2, they basically replace most of the upper. If you are replacing most of the upper anyhow, why not just make them into C8FTHB's or C8A3's? That would at least make more sense and come in at comparable cost.
I suspect it's the same reason why the Lee Enfield kept the mag cutoff for so long. The LCMM in Ottawa likely carried a C7A1 in Yugoslavia and therefore everyone who comes after will carry what worked for him![]()
Nope you can blame the Infantry highers for the 20" barrel "they requested it stay"
But we need the "extra range" of a 20 inch barrelIm going to get angry the next time I hear "you cant hit anything past 50m with an EOtech", followed by "how do I zero this thing" cause you can totally have an oppinion on the EOtech like that without ever having even used it.

We could have done something smart like the US Mil did (M4 with RAS) and went with the 16 inch C8A3 SFW and everyone would have been happy (Infantry, Veh crew, support pers would have a PDW to carry in the timmies line up), but instead we chose a 20 inch green abortion with airsoft special rails, 4 position stock, and a cheap VFG.
I was being sarcastic/bitter in my previous post.
If I hit someone at 200-300m with a 16 inch barrel and it doesnt fragment ill just keep putting rounds into him until his circulatory system depressurizes to the extent he loses consciousness and bleeds out.
I like the EO Tech (i prefer aimpoint but the EO isnt that bad) and C8A3 just what I really dont like is people forming oppinions about something they have had no experience with. I had another idiot tell me once that you cant hit anyone past 50m with a C8 (with the pencil barrel). People who never even used or educated themselves on the EOtech assume it is junk, dont even know how to zero it, then walk around with their BUIS mounted infront of it with the EO tech mounted all the way to the rear.
Oh and dont forget to line your red dot up with your front sight, ugh
you too? funny how that worksI've had the 16" vs 20" barrel discussion with several people, and it usually ended with me getting a headache. Unless hell freezes over, I don't see this "20 inch is gospel" nonsense ending sometime soon. Enjoy your privately owned short barrelled carbines on your own time, then gnash your teeth quietly while using the issue rifle and try to avoid saying "i wish i had a..." out loud.
As I write this, I'm sitting in my room in Kabul, just near Jalalabad road.
On my C7 I have installed:
- Magpul CTR FDE on the mill spec buffer tube
- KAC quadrail with Tango Down rail covers (tan)
- LaRue FUG
