Question to the weapon tech .

-What's the twist / length of the barrel on C8SFW, C8a2 and C7a2 ?
-And what's the grain of the bullet we use ?
-What's the deference between the US M16a2 and C7a2 ?
-What's the brand of the colapsible stock on the C7a2 ?

Because i want to build the most close reproduction .

Thanks

This is from memory so may not be accurate:

1. 1 in 7; 16", 14.5", 20"
2. ?
3. sights (C rifles have A1 style) and trigger group (U.S have semi & burst (generaly), C type have semi and full.
4. Colt Canada maybe

C8 SFW would be tough to build do to the barrel countour. Actually they all would be a difficult build.

I found a link and I stand corrected on some of the info: h ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diemaco_C7

The M16A2 is also the US' full-sized rifle, whereas our C8A2 is our 14.5" carbine... A comparison between the M16A2 and C7/C7A1 would be better.

Also, every rifle we have that have flat-top receivers don't have rear sights since we use optics instead of carrying handles.

Only the C7 and C8 have A1-style rear sights.

The bullets are 62gn.

Buy a 20" AR-15, add green furniture and a carbine buttstock and an Elcan sight.

Don't know who has green carbine buttstocks though. Green M4 waffle stocks are readily available for non-milspec buffer tubes.

The C7A2 has more modern features:

-Ambidextrous fire-selector, magazine release and has a rod on the charging-handle that helps lefties charge it quickly.
-Has a 4-position retractable stock instead of the M16A2's full-length stock.
-Has semi/auto instead of the M16A2's semi/burst.
-Flattop receiver instead of the M16A2's fixed carrying handle.
-Normally has three small picatinny rails under the front sight so you can attach many items.

That's the big of it.

Basically what you see is what you get. Some M16A2 are burst, some Auto.

The newest M16 is the A4
M16.jpg

Flat top basically.

1. All variants share the same 1 in 7 inch twist rate. Barrel lengths for the C7A2, C8A2 nad C8SFW are: 20", 14.5" and 15.8" respectively.

2. We use 62 gr. C77 BALL (IVI-stamped casings).

3. Explained in the post above.

4. The C7A2 also uses a CAR-type, 4 position collapsiblie buttstock, not the more common M4 (waffle) telescoping stock.

The CF does not issue a C8A2

You Have
C7
M16A1 type sights with A2 case deflector

As noted the C8SFW and C8FTHB are basicall the same weapon -- one goes with the KAC M4RAS (SFW) and ones comes with the POS TRIAD-1 (FTHB)

All are 1:7 Cold Hammer forged chrome lined 4150 steel barrels.
All are Safe - R - Auto

The stock on the majority of the C7A2's are a proprietary Diemaco unit. They look like an older Colt CAR style stock except that they are olive drab and have a textured finish on the round portion. I have seen a few that are actual Colt stocks, complete with N and 1 marks under the lever, but these were probably supplied by Colt so Diemaco would have enough parts for production.

The receiver extension (buffer tube) is also different from Colt. It has been turned down past the locking nut to a smaller diameter so that their are no visible threads.

I'd get you pics of all of the above but I'm currently on parental leave.

Your best bet would probably be to use a Colt CAR style stock and have it painted/armacoat/duracoat etc.. the appropriate colour.

Good luck on your build.
