I never understood why we insist on CAR type stocks when every other type is more ergonomic and functional.

I never came across one unfortunately but the one that was on my c7 clone was the original sa20 colt one!Now do you think perhaps you should bin that fold down back up iron sight and instead replace it with one of the garbage fixed iron sights that is designed to snuggle in with the front of the Elcan?

We don't insist. Its just that the nerds at DLR who are responsible for determining our small arms requirements aren't typically the ones carrying the firearms operationally or firing shots in anger, and have never had to live with the garbage they buy.
Rather than file more Unsatisfactory Equipment Reports that no one will ever read or action, most soldiers just swap the parts they need as they see fit. Sure there are lots of better stocks out there, but the issued ones aren't terrible.
Fun (disappointing) fact: The UCR Coord desk was often filled by a 2Lt on BTL/awaiting trg, who would pass the UCR file over to whichever item manager desk only if he knew where it was supposed to go. Otherwise, it sat in queue for action.
Its the one that comes with the restricted sa20 rifle that i use
Yes, CC puts that plate on civilian and export rifles at the moment but NOT on the C7A2
