C8 barrel replacement?

Yes its possible and not too complicated with the proper equipment. You'll need basic AR15 armorer tools such as a receiver block, barrel nut wrench, punch set, hammer and a vice. Nordic Marksman has C8 barrels, both stripped and complete.

Unless you are talking about a C8 IUR?......

As for the barrels, your best bet is prob nordic marksman but I believe that CC doesnt actually sell only barrels. If nordic sells them they will prob be take offs

May I ask why u feel the need to replace it? How many rounds are through it? Its not too often u hear about someone who has shot out a colt canada barrel....

I was talking about a surplus diemaco c8 upper.

I will buy a fielded Diemaco/colt C8 soon and I wanted to know if it was possible to swap the barrel once it would be worn. By your answer, I presume these barrels can handle a lot of bullets?

Oh yeah dude. Its not uncommon for a CC barrel to take 30k rounds down the pipe. CC makes top quality barrels and firearms. If u did want to replace the barrel, yes it can be done with the use of a few ar15 armoureres tools

I have another question: What would you say about shooting .223 with a C8? I guess it might be less accurate than 5.56, but can it be bad for the rifle?

You will do zero harm and have no problems shooting .223 in a "5.56" chamber.
Especially a rack grade 5.56mm military chamber/barrel. Cut loose, fast and sloppy.
You won't notice any accuracy differences in general between .223 and 5.56mm Sir. Especially not in a C8. Unless you are handloading or buying match ammo etc
A barrel change is about the most complex part of working on an AR15 but even that is about as hard as changing the oil in your car. Especially with the step by step detailed videos on Youtube these days.
It would be cheaper and much faster to just buy a cheap or used upper receiver block and barrel nut wrench and doing it in your basement than paying a smith hundreds of dollars + shipping + months of waiting.

.223 basically is a lower case pressure version of 5.56. Nothing to worry about, but the different projectile weight commonly found in .223 may introduce larger groups as the barrels were designed to stabilize 62gr projectiles that are common to the 5.56 cartridge..

There are plenty of match grade 5.56 barrels. Shooting .223 out of a match grade 5.56 Military barrel ( like a mk12 douglas barrel ) will not be detrimental. The factor that will influence accuracy is the twist rate. A 75 gr or 77 gr .223 will be just as accurate out of a 1/7 5.56 barrel as a 77 gr 5.56 bullet will be.

A 1/7 twist rate generaly likes longer 62- 77 gr better than shorter ( lighter gr) 55's
XM 193 or 55 gr rounds were optimized for 1/12 twist or 1/9 twist barrels.

Most available military barrels are all 5.56 1/7 twist. They will shoot everything, but as noted above 62 gr or higher will likely give you better accuracy.
