C8A3's covered in Rust!

The bolt and small internal parts would not be visible to the OP, only the barrel which accounts for a small visible portion of the entire rifle that the OP said was "covered". I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm just puzzled given the lack of details.

You are right, unless the ejection port is open then you can see the bolt or from the magwell if no mag inserted ;)

Not being argumentative, just bored on a rainy sunday :p

Pics or it didn't happen.

I know comrel and recruiting events like SFAD (Soldier for a day) encourage social media and attendants to take pictures and post them online.

Let's see some pics.

I'm very curious how a mostly aluminum gun could be covered in iron oxide corrosion...

Are you sure it wasn't simply a worn camo job?

I carried a C7 for years and am aware of what parts are aluminum and what parts are steel on this weapon. There were two rifles and both had spot rust in numerous locations on the front sights and on the steel stud on the collapsible butt. Really bad orange rust. They looked like they'd just come straight out of the sea! F**king atrocious as this was at a dog and pony show for the public and these guys were on display as some sort of Navy elite. So much for CLP.

CLP sucks and everything iron rusts in salt spray.

Hell aluminum worked with steel tooling rusts. IMO people with spotless inspection ready guns are probably not very skilled with them.

I as a general rule only clean my guns in months with an "R" in them.
