C96 Broomhandle barrel re-line

Shouldnt be that hard surely? Just drill the barrel and silver solder the liner in. Can't the smith up at Epp's do it? It's a sad commentary on the industry if you have to send it to the states to get that done!

Thats what I thought also until I pencilled a 5X scale of the cross-section of the barrel and bullet chamber. Even for the .30 cal cartridge there is only a small amount of liner left for strength after the chamber is cut into the liner blank. Even worse for a 9 mm cartridge (my gunsmith guy in the states wouldn't even do that conversion).

A special made tool and very precision equipment is the only safe way to do this lining.

BTW: the job "Redmanslining" did was indistinguishable from the original. I think $200 plus shipping.

Anyone know where in Canada i can get a C96 barrel re-lined? Thanks.

A new service has been initiated for relining the barrels of C96 broomhandle Mausers to 7.63X25 aka 30 Mauser. This work leaves the external appearance of the firearm unaffected while returning the bore and chamber to as-new condition. Rebarreling of to 9 MM Luger, 9X23 and 7.63X25 is also available. Prohibited bolos etc. can be re-registered ans restricted by this means.

PM me if you are interested in details

I got a Steyr-Hahn converted to 9x 19. They have pretty slender bbls as well. Mind you that only effects the chamber, but the original bbl also lends to the liner strength as well ( I would think ).
Good luck though.

I'm interested with this, my broomhandle badly needs a relining!
