Hello fellow nutz. Been lurking for years but very limited posts so please be kind. I have a CAA Roni G1 that I put my Glock 17 into. Ran fine for about the first 25 rounds of always factory ammo, then stopped. turns out that the slide is binding on the Roni frame and prevents the top end ( barrel ) from going back into battery resulting in no more pew-pew.I asked the guys at my local gunstore about it ( not where I bought it from ) and they told me that it was a common problem and is why they Do Not carry any Ronis. I've tried to contact CAA via their website but I guess some whiny canadian doesn't squeek enough to get any grease. BTW I DID go through the forums searching for info before posting this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks...

I have a gen 1 Roni for my Sig 226. I had a few fitting issues which was easy to correct by removing a small amount of polymer with my dremel tool. I've run several hundred rounds through it with no issues. Can you tell where the binding is taking place? Post a pic if able.

thanks for the reply...The slide binds on the front 'nose area', when I manually charge it with the 'clamshell' open, it rides fine but when I close it up , the assembly seems to squeeze it too tight and It won't cycle...I thought abot using my Dremel as well to take away material but was wondering if anybody had sucess any other way.It seems to not want to go back into the plastic piece for the kit. I took out my Glock 17 and put in my glock 19 that doesn't have the lenght and doesn't engage that part...but I have not gone to the range to try it out. I prefer to have my G17 in the kit but will obviously settle for what works RELIABLY...I will take and post some pics tomorrow...Thanks...

thanks for the reply...this is definitely for the REAL gun(s)...I heard that there were problems with the Gen1s which is why they came out with the BETTER Gen2s...I guess i have the older lemon...

I could be wrong on this, but i believe the Roni's were made for gen3 and newer only. I think the reason you are having your issue is because of the notch in the roni frame that would sit in the bottom of a railed glock. This little piece is tilting your gun up therefor when you close the front of the roni the barrel shroud is pushing your slide out of battery.

GunnyY is absolutely correct. The Gen 3 rail is needed to help lock the gun in place, negating any movement within. This was mentioned on their website as well as product packaging. If u didnt get the packaging, you would not have known. BTW, the RONI works terrific! Cheers

BINGO...!!! gunnyee is absolutely right...I never considered that little notch. Because I'm not in the position to run out and buy another gen3 or gen4 Glock I'm VERY carefully going to 'cut out' a small grove on my gen2 G17. I'm planning on just using some fine files that I have and NOT going with my Dremel which can result in an unfortunate OOPS !! Thanks for all the help and info...I'll post my results. BTW CAA provided me with install instructions for the G2 version ...I repeatedly asked for the original version but they said they were the same.

BTW gunnyee , I'm in Calgary as well...I owe you a tasty beverage...
