I was browsing some of the shotguns on their webpage and I was astonished to see the Mossberg 500A Field model at $335 while it was $260 last week. The mossberg 500 is more expensive than the Remington 870 with rebate!!!

Rip off.

With the drop in commodity pricing I look forward to seeing reloading supplies and ammo drop in price. Drop in oil price also means that manufacturing (oil->plastics) and distribution prices dropped. Too bad the CNY and AUD have become stronger against the USD, not help accessories and powder.

Cant just look at the USD/CAD dollar but we do understand profits (there is a reason one company goes through the time and money to buy another...). Don't begrudge them that, perhaps this creates opportunities for your local gun store or sponsors to offer you a better deal (or best yet, local stores that are sponsers).

The Remy does look like a better buy than Mossy (after the 29% price increase). The Remington XCR Tactical also went from ~1179 to~1467... (still 1179 at WSS).

Considering commodity prices had very little affect on ammo prices, and most is made in the US, you are going to see a continued increase from US manufacturers.

BTW ..... any seller has the right to adjust their prices and with the recent change in the CDN dollar we are probably going to see more of this. Welcome to life.

The canadian dollar hasn't fallen 33 percent. And i didn't notice anyone dropping their prices all that quick when the dollar was going up.

I spoke to a Beretta, Benelli rep yesterday. He said that Stoeger Canada was going to raise their price by 15% effective after business close today. I am sure that other suppliers will follow.

Yeah ... our $ goes up and it takes a year or more for higher exchange to be reflected in lower retail prices ... BUT, let the Loonie Buck take a nosedive, a week or two is all it takes for retail to climb up again ! Go figure !

I see the R-15 from Remington went up from a bargain price of $999 to over $1200. The mini-14 target went up a couple hundred as well. And I'm wondering if that new, higher priced Mini-14 wasn't purchased before the Canadian dollar dropped.

They are however honoring the prices in their Christmas catalog that just arrived.

Canada Ammo - thats my point. Given brass case, brass/lead bullet, powder, and distribution cost, you would think that commodity prices would affect pricing. Not really a demand issue - the ammo being used in the service was not manufactured this month, demand is not exceeding manufacturing capacity... (and the more they manufacture, economies of scale...).

But its very close that. Even if we start a few months ago when it was at par(not the $1.10 it got to) and then it dropped to about .78 about the time SIR raised their prices. That is not a $.22 difference. It actually means we pay about $1.28 for one US $. Also means the duties on non-NAFTA stuff coming in from the US are based on a higher price too.

I agree with Foxer. Our dollar climbs up, its a long time before retail prices are adjusted down. Dollar drops very quickly, price goes up very quickly. Ever notice how the price of a barrel of oil goes up, the price at the pump jumps up, but when oil drops, its weeks before we see a decline at the pump. BS.

Jesus! The Mossberg 500 12ga field with one barrel and 3'' chamber is now almost 40$ more expensive than the Mossberg 535 12 ga with 2 barrels and a 3.5'' chamber at the same place!

The primers were $17 just 3 years ago, and the business was profitable like never before. Current price is $34 and there is lack of them.

Is this 'Canadian business as usual' when Winchester, Federal and CCI are not filling the orders but no Canadian factory is offering any primers? The price is 2x the normal profit making price!

I can't believe that no Canadian manufacturer can offer primers in a situation when the American companies are only supplying the war. Punch a brass cup, fill with resin, punch a star, stick it on top of resin, bingo! But no, we don't have a Canadian manufacturer, too effing hard.
