I was just browsing through the selection of handguns on the Cabela's Canada site. One thing struck me. Just about every pistol or revolver I looked at seemed to be priced anywhere from $50 to $150 higher than I've seen on other Canadian sites. What's up with that? Do they often have instore "sales" or do they just depend on the "it's in a big box store it must be a good deal. I won't bother checking anywhere else" syndrome?

Sometimes, not all the time, the local store price may be lower for a local sale which conflicts with the online price and vice versa. They will price match but only against brick and mortar stores that are within 100 miles radius. The website pricing policy states 100 miles and had to show them as initially the store was under the impression that they would only match prices in their local area. They were good about it and I did buy a SW 9mm range kit for $629.00 which was around $759.00 in the store. They matched a store that was about 85 miles away.

Funny that their Canadian website states miles instead of km but it is what is.

I recommend checking the web before visiting as the web may have a sale but the store might not. They will price match their own website sales which is a bit strange to watch. It's the same company but they have to go online to verify the web sale before giving the same price.

Depends what you are looking at. A lot of their Sigs, particularly higher end X5s etc are cheaper than most other places. In Dec and Jan, Cabela's had the Sig P210 Supertarget listed for $2900. MSRP in the US is $4K.

Become friends with the guy at the gun counter (or really anyone who works at the store). Then they can get you an invitation to the Friend's and Family events they do throughout the year. My experience has been that you save between 20-30%.

Yes Cabela's is priced higher than most online retailers, but for many markets it is the only show in town. Plus those big buildings don't pay for themselves.

Most prices are higher at Cabelas but not all. As Gdawg pointed out,for some reason, they got really good prices on Sigs. Buddy bought a p226 last month for under $900 when it was over $1K everywhere else.

X3. Not sure what sort of special deal they have with Sig, but they've got some of the best prices on them. Compare their online prices on the P226 a Extreme or the P220 Elite, cheap like borscht.
