Yes, most places in the US it is about $25/lb which = about CDN$35/lb. So CDN$48/lb is an additional 35% on top of the exchange rate.

Isn't some of this stuff made in Canada?

a few years ago a fellow at Hodgdon emailed me a dealer price list. Eyes bugged out of my head at the costs. I submitted a healthy order, he emailed me back apologizing for the wrong info, he didn't know I was from Canada. Attached was a CDN dealer price list (in USD), a can of Varget was $9 more than US dealers pay, and thats before freight

I didn't think it was the Canadian dealers that were pocketing the extra. I recently read an article on Costco - the love Canada because their profit margins are almost DOUBLE that in the USA.
