Cabelas rip off shipping charges

Hazmat is pricey, there's no way around it. But what really burned my backside was when I tried to order a gift card to come in the mail and they wanted $50 to ship to a remote location.

Seriously...an envelope and $.65 stamp. I'll be generous and say $2.50 for shipping. But $50?

gas is expensive, especially if theres not much else going to your area.

I'd say that qualifies as a ripoff..:(

budget shooter supply I just bought a complete reloading kit with bullet casting tools.600 projectiles and 4lbs of titegroup shipping was 22 bucks Henry's a good guy support the little guy

I do buy at Budget but Henry won't sell titegroup unless you buy a press right now. I have three presses....got the last 1 lb of 700x at Rusty Wood today and only thing extra was gas from Langley to Mission.

As already said, in-store pickup when buying anything deemed hazmat through Cabelas or buy it from Budget Shooter Supply.

I always feel dirty whenever I buy things from Cabelas, but that's just me.

you can order off Cabelas online and have it shipped for free to the Barrie location for frrr pick up. helpful if youre nearby there. bu still mostly overpriced.

I find it best if you just don't look at the price on the jug. I need powder to keep shooting so I buy the powders I find in stock that I can use in my rifles and pistols. I have loads developed for more than one powder for each cartridge in case I can't find my favorite.

If you don't live close enough to a Cabela's to pick it up maybe you should get a couple buddies together and make an order from Higginson's once a year like myself and three of my buddies do, last spring we ordered 34 pounds of various powders and had it shipped to me, I then seperated and distributed it between us. I still buy powder when I find it in stock at local stores but ordering one or two pounds at a time when it's as scarce as it has been the last few years is silly. You need to stock up and have some reserves. It isn't hoarding, it's just being smart.

Last week I was in Cabela's South Edmonton and they had Varget so I grabbed 4 pounds. Even if I don't need a certain powder I'll still buy some if I see it in stock and load for cartridges that can use it.

Mr. I won't buy powder for more than $30/pound. You may as well sell your reloading gear because it's going to be forever till you see powder under $30 again. It's called inflation, just like everything else in this greedy gouging world we live in the prices only go up. Adapt or be left behind, it's still cheaper and more accurate than buying factory manufactured ammo.

I agree, shipping to the store is the best case scenario if possible.
I'll never forget the "it's $150 extra to ship your 1LB of powder to you...or you can come pick it up at no extra charge." I had just entered the reloading world and didn't think I would need more than a 1LB on hand if I didn't succeed at reloading...should have known better!

Cabela's has nothing to do with setting the shipping charges. The carrier does with some government interference. Hazmat fees come directly from government.
Buying components on-line, nearly always costs more than buying 'em locally.

When you order brass the hazard charge is applied.

Oh . . . we will catch that when the shipment is reviewed. Yeah right when chickens have teeth and pigs fly!

Higginson's provides free shipping with orders of 21lbs or more but you still have to pay the haz mat fee but it's only about $35. It's not as high as you think.

Order 24lbs or more from Hummason's, and they still charge you $100 shipping... BUT, your landed cost is still less than Higginson's per pound. I just did; my final cost to my door was a little under $29/lb.

how come other places don't charge a fee this large, or charge a very small fee compared?

Cabelas are deuschbags, that's all
