Cabelas rip off shipping charges

It's because they use a company that charges the Haz products fee. I just don"t think they are interested in shipping powder. There are others who use a shipper that doesn't charge the haz products fee.

Ah yes ---- "special handling"

What exactly is "special handling?" I know from my shipping days, that usually meant, "yeah, we'll ship it, but it's such a PITA with the paperwork, that we'll quote you a price that you'll NEVER agree to pay" ---- I can't imagine it's any different with Cabelas

Shipping hazmat has so many rules for the company and trucks to follow. Times they can drive. Streets they can drive on. Where they can and can't park. Probably be just your stuff on the truck actually. Funny I just ordered from Cabelas a huge gun bag/mat and is was $8.99 shipping.

I got the same charge for 5 lb. Had to cancel the order. I think if we have a big order, like 20-25 lb it could be a good one. What do you think guys?

In the US the hazmat fee is $27 for up to 50lbs of powder. When in stock, guys will order 6 of the 8lb jugs at once.

Higginson's provides free shipping with orders of 21lbs or more but you still have to pay the haz mat fee but it's only about $35. It's not as high as you think.

In the scheem of things, you have to ask your self a question do I need this powder? If answer is yes then pay for shipping. If no then screw it and buy it when you can at more affordable price. Anyway its not like your life depends on this powder? I have at this moment no pistol powder at all in my cabinet, I will not buy powder that is over 30$ for pound period. When economy improves and prices come down then we get to reloading at lower prices.

I tried to order 3 lbs of titegroup from Cabelas and they wanted $150.06 in shipping charges. WTF! Won't buy anything again from the crooks.

budget shooter supply I just bought a complete reloading kit with bullet casting tools.600 projectiles and 4lbs of titegroup shipping was 22 bucks Henry's a good guy support the little guy

Hazmat is pricey, there's no way around it. But what really burned my backside was when I tried to order a gift card to come in the mail and they wanted $50 to ship to a remote location.

Seriously...an envelope and $.65 stamp. I'll be generous and say $2.50 for shipping. But $50?

As already said, in-store pickup when buying anything deemed hazmat through Cabelas or buy it from Budget Shooter Supply.

I always feel dirty whenever I buy things from Cabelas, but that's just me.
