you want a real honest opinion???

the world looks clearer looking down through the bottom of a 20 year old pint glass, in a dim lit bar, in the middle of nowhere, during a sand storm, but other then that, great scope for the teenage budget driven internet tactical type sniper still living in his mom's basement.......

Lol ;). A Buddy was wondering about one compared to my Vortex 5-25 Venom Dave - I’ve never looked thru or used a Cabelas Covenant scope . So was just asking . Thxs RJ

My shooting buddy had a covenant, as did I, I switched to the venon, them got him a venom and told him to give me what he could sell the covenant for, he still thanks me, no one should have to look through one of those scopes......you were on the list for Kamloops the 2 matches that tried to bless your presence........don't care ain't got much real world experience and is about to earn a spot on my ignore list, and or he has lots of experience with #### gear and hasn't discovered quality yet, I'll go with that

I bought one for ####s and giggles to go on a 22 a few years ago. They were on for half price, not sure if it was the same model. It was quite under whelming. I returned it and put the cash towards a Vortex DBT.
It has a lot of features but they all fall short. The Venom is a much better option.

Hey yodave, you seem like a fun individual, not touchy or overly sensitive at all! Must be a blast at partys! Can I be on your ignore list?

I bought one of the Covenant FFP Mil 5-25's a while back when on sale...it lasted about 50 rounds on a 22-250 before the turrets stopped working.

I haven't used the replacement one yet.

One thing is what are you using it for ? I've got 2x Cabelas Covenant-4 6-245x50 FFP, one on my B22-4-years and one on my CZ-455-2 years. The one on the B22 replaced a Bushnell Engage 4-16x50 FFP - which replaced a Bushnell 4-12x40 DOA AO - the Cov was better than both. All above is considering the prices; now I'd go with an Athlon b4 a Vortex for a few bucks more.

PS - Maybe Cov going to the 7x mag is causing problems ?? Not a lot of good scopes doing that, IMO. And on my CZ-457 V-MTR I have an Athlon 8-34x56 FFP thats also in the mentioned price range, ca $700 tax in.

Cabelas scope are (or used to be) manufactured by other name brand manufacturers. Have you found out who makes this scope for them?
May give an indication as to quality and performance (reliability, etc.) for comparison.

Covenant are all made in China.
I tried 2, they were early models, 4-16 version, one FFP, one SFP.
The SFP was okay, clear and the reticle is decent in SFP. The FFP was garbage, wouldn't focus for ####, reticle was useless until 12x or so....

Simmons, Burris, and Tasco scopes would be the equivalent. Clarity diminishes the higher you set the magnification. Fine on a .22 or .17 at low magnification shooting 150m or less as tracking isn't 100%. Typical rifle/scope package deal component for the under 100m shot deer hunter that doesn't want to pay top dollar for rifles and optics.
