Cabela's Scopes?

A buddy mentioned he picked a Cabela branded one up for $100. A 3x9. He said it was a lifetime warranty. Glass made in Germany and body from US. Not sure where it was assembled.
Just hearsay as I never saw the scope.

I'm thinking he might be mistaken. The cheap Cabelas scopes are pretty much all from China and have no other use than for an exotic fish bat.

The "euro" branded Cabelas optics are the ones made by Meopta.

I had one, thought I'd try it out. It was terrible. Didn't track even at close ranges and then a turret broke. Junk.

DON"T BUY IT! stick to the brand names. don't fall for their BS hyped warranty & scopes.

The Cabela's "Euro" scopes are definitely not trash as they are rebranded Meopta. Meopta makes superb optics. Although the scopes are rebadged "Meopros" which is Meopta's budget line. (The Cabela's Euro HD Binos and Spotting scope are from Meopta's high end line). The lower end Meopro line is assembled in USA. The higher end Meostar is fully Made in Czech Republic. They are one of the only optics companies that melt, grind, polish and coat their glass in house. Very high quality.

As for the other Cabela's branded scopes I would agree with you.

I just got a Rimfire-specific 22LR scope from Cabela's. Only tried it today, but it's very clear, holds zero, and the calibrated crosshairs match up to 22 LR pretty well. I don't know what the durability will be like, though. As far as service goes - I got this as a replacement for a BSA scope I bought from an adze-hole here that was defective (the scope, not the adze-hole). I contacted BSA, but their service depot is in the US, and because of ITAR BS, I couldn't get it serviced there. They sent me an E-Mail and told me to go to Cabela's or BPS. So I went to Cabela's, and they gave me this brand-new Cabela's 3-9X40 scope under BSA warranty.

Friend of mine had one on a.308. Always lost zero and at one point completely lost windage adjustment. Had warranty and store gave him a new one even though a year later. Inexpensive (relatively) mind you. For a reason I suspect.....
