Cabelas store in Montreal

Hi!
Dont wanna blow your dream, but I had applied for a job on there website and send them my info, but I have received last year an email saying that all application are now cancelled, cos the store wont be opening. No reason other then they reconsider there expansion in Canada, they dont mention nothing about language barrier or other. My personnal thought about there reconsideration is the god damn bureaucracy about everything related to firearms.

Could you post the actual email if you still have it? Not that I don't believe what you are saying. I would just like to see exactly what they are sending out to applicants.

My order from Cabela's USA arrived today (very quickly!). It was a brass tumbler, came in a large box - mailed from within Canada. The return address read:

Pitney Bowes IMEX
Oakville, ON

That's an international mail service address. Will save you the hassle of paying duty a second time if you need to exchange something.

Sorry woodsman, I havent keep the mail in question, But I received during summer 2007, I was dreaming about that job! Seems I'll have to wait.

Yves

Cabelas may be rethinking where they are going to expand to. There is a complex under construction (construction on the building is already underway) between Airdrie and Calgary that is going to rival West Ed. Rumor has it that BPS or Cabelas will be moving in there.

Stores like Bass Pro and Cabella in the USA , are doing very bad sales wise,
This is one of the reason they have cut 90% of their part time staff.

So concerning cabella, I do not know, however if the recession continue in the USA ,don't count on Cabella to come to Canada.

Don't remember where I read it, but an article said the Montreal Cabelas has been put off until at least late 2009. I bet it doesn't happen at all.

I if you go onto the SIR website and read in their press reliece it says that they have been baught out by cabelas. My understanding is that Winipeg is going to be the start for cabela's in Canada and they will see how it goes from there. If things work out then I think we can expect to see them across the country in the matter of a few years. This does scare me though, I like the prices that we get from across the border and I think that we can expect the prices to rise a fair bit once they move up here, due to the pain in the ass at the border. I personally hope that they don't have luck with the SIR purchase and they stay south of the line.

This will in fact be a Cabelas. When speaking to a CS agent in store in Minnesota, I mentioned I was Canadian and they said they were opening a store there. I said that I knew about the Montreal store, and they said that they heard it was in Calgary.

What I had heard was thatthe Montreal store was being put off after the SIR buyout. I wonder though, if the existing SIR store will be converted to a Cabelas, or if it will keep the SIR name. I'd say it's probably a decent enough facility that they could slap the Cabelas name on it and not miss a beat...maybe a touch small, come to think of it. Right now it's a nice combo having SIR here at home and Cabelas only a short drive away in E. Grand Forks, MN

At christmas time the teller in the East grand forks store signed us up for a members card to save money. she said we would be able to use it at the new to be opened winnipeg store as well.

Longpointdiver - if you are in Norfolk county, its a hellovalot closer to drive to Dundee MI. Took me about 2.5hrs to drive from the London area.

I'm not convinced that Cabelas is going to sell at USA prices. We always get hosed in Canada. I'm jumping all over it if I can get an Uberti black powder revolver for $180 US in Canada.

Thanks MauserMike- Actually im up by Lindsay now. I have been to the one in Dundee several times. Going up to Montreal would be more of an excuse to go upto Montreal for a road trip lol Take my kids up and make a weekend out of it.

I remember reading the winnipeg free press article when the buyout occured last year. I think the jist of it is some sort of a symbiotic business deal, SIR needed the knowledge of how to move up to the next level and Cabelas has that, and Cabelas wanted to move north of the border but use a company that has made a name for itself up here to spring board itself. SIR will remain SIR but will carry SIR and Cabelas product lines. Although nobaody losing their jobs i hope the gun counter service is somehow greatly improves becausee it sucks a**.
