I figured I'd finally break down and order a Hornady LNL from Cabelas USA but they won't ship to Canada and it's 160 more on there Canadian site. You gotta love getting screwed by these big companies. I'll pay more somewhere else before I buy from Cabelas CA.

OK, rant over.

I have ordered many things from Cabelas USA instead of Cabelas CANADA and even after the exchange and duties paid, a $500 order from the US would have cost me $600-700 Canadian. Those are obviously not exact numbers, but I did crunch them at the time and it was a big difference. That was last year when our dollar was about $0.82 US.

I agree with the idea of support your local guys, but $100 here and there up to a half dozen times a year add up!

They shipped my LNL a few years ago without any problems. I guess the laws have changed. You can't blame them for that.

I shop at Cableas USA all the time. Good service and good products. Too bad about stupid US laws.

There are restrictions on certain items that come in some of the reloading kits. If you try to buy just the press, you will probably find that the system will let you ship it to Canada...

It seems that any reloading kits that contain lubes or any other liquids or pastes seem to not be able to get shipped to Canada for whatever reason. But when you are just buying reloading hardware, you can checkout without any trouble... odd...

Odd though.... It won't let me buy the Hornady press... I can buy any stand alone Lee or RCBS press, but not the Hornady L 'n' L. I wonder what that's all about?

Probably just amiscoding. Besides reloading equipment Horrnady makes components ( bullets, ammo) whcih are illegal to export. They probably did it based on the company without remembering that the reloading tools are OK to export.

i've always m wndered if there was a non-competition policy. so far I can't seem to find one as a lot of clothing etc is offered on both sites

Ever been to Cabela's anywhere in the States?

Its one of the best companies and sports stores out there. The Canadian version of Cabela's doesn't even register once you take one step in a US Cabela's.

Sorry your EXPERIENCE wasn't the typical Cabela's one.

I wonder if the same holds true for Bass Pro? .........:yingyang:

weird, when I was in the market for a press earlier this year, I called cabelas USA about the hornady LnL +free bullets deal. He said everything was fine but I had to redeem bullets from a Canadian hornady dealer.
You must've fell on a jackass?

It sounds like they only suck if you're Canadian that doesn't live to close to the border. Bass Pro and Graff's say they will ship as no export permits are needed for reloading gear yet.

I sent an email asking about it but no response yet. I'm going to see if Bass Pro will match the price.

I got a Lee Pro 1000 from Cabelas USA a few years ago, no problem. In fact, it had been several months since I ordered it and it still hadn't arrived. So I called them up, explained I was still waiting...so they shipped another just to be sure! I never did get the first Pro 1000 (which I would have returned), so it makes me wonder where the F-up occured.

Either way, Cabelas is top notch in my books.

I ordered a Hornady LNL AP from Cabelas US in April and it came without a single hitch and they were great to do business with.

I hope that has not changed:confused:

I have recently ordered reloading equipment from Cabelas.com and my experience was very positive. The price was excellent, even after accounting for taxes, shipping and duty(all of which they automatically add to your bill). While they cannot ship you restricted items such as brass, primers, power, bullets or optics, there are still plenty of good products that they can sell you. Things like dies and presses are not normally a problem. I ordered some dies and and shell holders. To order, all you need is a credit card. When I ordered from them, I tried to order some brass because I didn't know about the restriction; their system automatically informed me that I couldn't purchase the brass and asked me if I wanted to continue with the rest of the order. Overall, I thought that it was a pretty good system.

Cabela's USA also ships everything UPS which means you're paying about 1/3 of the purchace price in Duty!!!!!!!!!!Harold
