Cabellas sale

well my 700 sps in 22-250 shoots cheap super x 55 psp in 1.5" hole at 200yds, one of the best coyote rifles i have ever owned

I think the prices they're selling them at makes them very attractive. I've got two Remingtons, and I'm very happy with both of them. The real test is whether I would buy another, and I would.

I own a couple of Remington 700 rifles (not new mind you) and they are everything they are supposed to be. I expect the sale at Cabelas is based on inventory and specific calibers as has been noted already in this thread. I would not hesitate to buy one of these sale rifles, if only I needed a new gun. :)

I think the finish on the SPS line is kinda rough and the stock isn't the greatest, but the guns are just fine. I've yet to see one fall apart before me, and a lot of guys are getting them around here due to the sale. Perfectly fine hunting rifles. You want spit-and-polish, get a CDL.

It seems that no one can post anything at all about Remington without a whole batch of slaggers jumping all over the place about the demise of Remington Quality.
I say enough already! Give it a rest, FSS!!
We've heard your diatribes 201 times already.
I'm betting that Big Green will be pulling up their socks right soon now and bringing back the great M700 that we know and love.
They still make a great platform to build on, and at Cabela's prices, you can afford the rifle for the action.
FWIW, a friend just bought a brand new SPS in 30-06 that shoots absolutely fabulous.
Regards, Eagleye.

Agree 100% Eagleye. Friend just bought a 700 CDL and it shoots and looks great. As far as made off shore have you looked at your Browning,CZ,Sako etc;,etc; barrel lately.Laugh2

I sure can`t complain about the sps varmint i had as far as fit and finish. Was quite accurate just to heavy for a walking rifle. Sold it to my son to cart around.

My $280 Stevens 200 shoots sub MOA right outta the box:

I have shot plenty of half inch 5 shot groups with my .223 or .270 with the average being just under an inch with both using handloads, and probably an inch with the hunting ammo it likes.

I also have a Marlin XS7 in .243 that will put the cheap Federal into an inch as well. In my opinion this is the best gun you can get for the money, at $350. Accutrigger, soid stock with little to no flex, fluted bolt, very light, etc.

If I want a budget rifle, it ain't gonna be a Rem.

Just sayin.............

Remington 700 SPS DM Bolt Action Rifle w/ Scope & Hard Case is 499.99
Remington 700 SPS Bolt Action Rifle is 599.99
Remington 700 SPS DM Bolt Action Rifle is 489.99

The DM model is cheaper that a standard?
And the Scope, Rings, Bases and hard case are only wworth $10.00 more.

I should take another economics course . . .

Have you thought of the Weatherby Vanguard??
You can get one that comes with a hard plastic case, bases and rings a scope(inexpensive) and a sling with a shot target that should instill some starting confidence as to the rifles ability .
They are on sale in Langley at the big box store till the 30th or so.
They also have a warranty for the original owner that does not specify a one year limited time frame, but rather is a bit broader ...see their website for more information.
I have owned three of them and had fun shooting them before moving onto my current Mrk V's.
Just an option if it has not been considered.
Tight Groups,
Rob

The Stevens 200 isn't $280 anymore.;) The Remington 700 is a proven design, offers great out-of-the-box accuracy, has a great factory trigger that is adjustable and there are literally tons of aftermarket accessories, parts and stock options to permit further customization if desired.

The SPS line is built to a certain price point and is intended as an entry level rifle. To keep the price down, the extra polish, finish and stock you see on higher end models was sacrificed. I'll admit that Remington's QC has slipped in recent years, but I still haven't come across one that won't shoot.

I've currently got about a dozen Remington's in my collection and everyone is at least a MOA shooter or better with factory barrels. I've got zero complaints with that kind of accuracy from a factory rifle.

That doesn't mean that I don't like the Stevens 200 or even the Savage Edge/Axis. I picked one up for a buddy a few months back. I have to say I was impressed with the rifle for the cost and was even tempted to pick one up for myself as a beater. Frankly, I don't know why there is this fascination within our community that because you prefer brand X, you have to slag brand Y. You'd think as "Gun Nutz" we'd love all guns wouldn't you?

700

Right on X-Man!
ALL guns are fun.....................its just that some are "MORE" fun than others!

Agreed X-Man
I too am brand neutral and enjoy shooting most and I have a wide variety.
I have owned the Steven's, Savage, and Rem 700 all will shoot but the action on the 700 in my opinion is far better.

Usually just a select few that cut down the topic rifle. They may have had a bad experience with a certain rifle, but I wonder was it the rifle or the man. What they have is always the best..Yours is junk, they had one....and it was junk,so they are junk...We all get the picture..Better these fellows use another forum......

Nice of "Horseman2" to try and help the community by pointing out a deal. I understand where he's (assuming it's a 'he') coming from- not only do I like to save money, like to see my friends (in this case the CGN community) save money.

Cudos for the effort!

I own an SPS DM and various other 700's, they are my favorites.... here's the skinny...

1- The DM version is EXACTLY the same as the version with the drop plate with the exception of the detachable mag... the mag is made of hich quality solid metal and the release is excellent... it is a very well made rifle at a phenomenal price....

2- The most recent DM's do in fact have the x-mark trigger.... not sure about the cabelas ones... they used to make them without until folks started whining about the 6 pound triggers... until they are out of stock of teh old ones they wont advertise it as a feature... if you are buying a high traffic calibre you have a great shot at getting one with an xmark....

3- the package shown comes with a bushnell banner scope... not the best.... I would go with the rifle and case deal and buy a better scope to top it off....

Say what you will about the Rem700, that is a ridiculous deal.

I personally don't care for the platform, but I know that's a heck of a sale.

It makes you wonder why they'd cannibalize their 770 sales with a super cheap 700, weird marketing.
