Cabin fever - I am painting my Swiss Arms (Updated DEC 22, final product post 70)

Not my cup of tea. I mean, not at all - both in color pattern/design and the paint chosen (I would have gone with Cerakote myself - go with the best for a top quality rifle as a SAN is a no-brainer IMO)

BUT

Kudos to you for going through with it and made it what YOU wanted it to be - why give a rat's a$$ what we think about it !

Congratulations! Your rifle now matches your socks :D
Personally I don't like it. I'm a 2 solid colors guy, but if you're happy with it, then who gives a :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug:.

EDIT: So s h i t has been replaced with kissing smileys?

But his stocks started out white. ;)

I'm surprised you can walk with those balls.
I think I would have taken a rifle and scope worth that much in for a professional job and reserved the home job to a lesser rifle but that's just me.

Looks great though, I hope it holds up. Actually who cares if it holds up, you can just touch it up or re-do it in another pattern when this one gets beat up.
Maybe my Armalite needs some tats, na, it's still in to good of condition. Maybe my sub2000 first for practice.

Well done

Turned out great! I would suggest maybe cutting a bigger maple leaf stencil and going over that one with some crisper lines, but well done!

Don't kid yourself. It's a good thing the OP is pleased with his results but the actual job itself is anything but great.

Are you disgusted he painted his $3000 rifle and $2000 scope with a rattle can or do you think the way it turned out is anything but great?

I think it looks pretty darn good especially considering he did it on the floor of his garage. I do question why he would turn a $5000 rig into something almost unsellable but he did say he doesn't plan to ever sell it so who really cares. He can always strip it and have it back to almost original if he wants or strip it and take it for professional coating if he wanted to do that as well.
Nothing is ruined, only devalued if he decided to sell it.

No, the value of the gear is of little concern to me. Nor should it be. As long as Smak_Daddy is happy then that is all that matters. I meant that. What I'm saying is that the actual job itself is just not high quality. I don't mean that as disrespect. It is what it is.

Looks good! Next time don't paint the portion of the mag that goes inside the well.

To those saying that it will devalue the rifle/scope...who cares? If you have a good setup you don't plan on selling it's decreased value is inconsequential.

I have heard of this "cabin fever", in my experience, it occurs only when the weather teams up with your inner pussy:p:p:p, and suddenly, "it's too cold" or "it's too wet". It happens to all of us.

I find the best way to deal with the "fever" so to speak is to go out and face it. Cold, Wet, Hot, deal with it. It makes you harder!

There's one catch......I live on the island, so while I may shoot in a lot of rain and nasty weather, -15c in un-heard and impossible in these parts, so I must admit, those temperatures would probably be bringing out my "inner Pussy" too, and probably more so than any Albertan.

So it's more the rattle can job rather than using a good coating designed for firearms like Ceracoat, Duracoat, or diamondkote etc...?
I agree with that. The Krylon will probably only last a couple months before it looks beat to sh!t. At least he can touch it up as needed.

Hated it to start, but it's growing on me. Not my style at all, but it does look like quality and personalized. Making something "yours" is the main point of owning anything! I really like the soft/blended edging of the maple leaf... it matches the camo features.

Good work!

good work. i like it....

you decided to paint something of value to you in a scheme you wanted, the way you wanted...the value of which is probably some people's entire gun collection.

respect.
