Has anyone tried Cactus Plains Ammunition's Hard cast bullets?

I noticed a big stack of them at Wholesale in Kamloops the other day.

price was around $80-90/1000 depending on bullet...

I've used them in my 357 and 45 LC with good luck. The only issue I have with them is I picked up 11000 in both 357 and 45 at the Tompkins Gun show for 55-60 per 1000 and the same bullets at the Swift Current show where in the 80 and up per 1000 range.

Good price....with lead prices changing you can hardly blame a producer for adjusting prices.
When was the Tompkins show?

I use Cactus plains almost exclusivly in my 9mm & 45 (at least when talking lead non-plated). Quality is good, and I get them for $67/1000 & $73/1000 at my local g-store.... Its win win if you ask me, support my local store who is supporting a local(ish) business.

Is this different from Plains Cast Bullets in Gull Lake? He has a great product.

No, they must be talking about Plains Ammunition Supply. There's only one gun shop in Regina and I've never seen Cactus Plains Ammunition, at least not since yesterday.

RGD :)

Wholesale in Winnipeg has them. I bought the only .452 200gr RNFP unless they have more in the back. Still have a .453 though. Also they had .452 155 gr SWC, pretty light for 45. I'll have to load some up for my next trip to the range.

I've got a jar of 250 405 grain 45/70 Cactus boolits that I'm using for concentration curls! :D Haven't loaded any yet, but if they shoot OK I will be getting more.

I've stopped at the pile 'o' pails at Wholesale in Kamloops, but I was reluctant to pull the trigger on a pail without a handful of samples to try.
Anyone have a few .358 Cactus Plains bullets to spare so I can try them out in my Marlin 1894C? I'll cover shipping and send you a Tims Card :p

My experience with these bullets was less than stellar. I have been trying to load them in a 629 and except when using the softest loads possible, I have been having extreme leading issues. The bullets are 240 grain .429, and I must say that the lube is hit and miss.

For comparison, I tried some 240 grain .429 from OMA Products on Vancouver Island (as far as I can tell they are using the exact same mould) with the exact same powder, load, etc. and had a LOT less leading then the Cactus Plains, and the lube was way better.

Now having said that, a number of friends are using the Cactus Plains in their semi-auto pistols without an issue, and one fellow loads for his 44-40 without significant leading, so who knows (though they all complain about the hit and miss lube).

Just my experience.
