This past January at Shot Show I checked out the Cadex booth and talked with Rob Furlong. When I got home I was sold on upgrading to a Cadex chassis.
I was originally going to get the Competition chassis, but was offered a great deal on the Lite Strike chassis so I pulled the trigger on one of those thx to Martin at DS Tactical. ;)

Very impressed with the workmanship and design. The folding stock really locks up tight and the tool less design is great.

Cadex chassis systems are awesome. Roller bedding system for those who don't want to glass bed, AI magazine compatibility, tool-less adjustments for comb and LOP, folding stock that locks positively in the open or closed position, modular rail system, easy access to the trigger for adjustments, and quick easy access to the bolt for cleaning.

Appreciate the pictures and commentary. Ive got myself an MTD chassis and started competing this year with a .223 rig. It performed well enough but I have had my heart set on building a more serious competition rig. Your article is very inspiring and now I have loads of research to go, thanks for passing on the knowledge.

Sweet rig... I'm thinking of doing something similar.

What caliber is it?

I like the hand stop on the pistol grip, but found on my rifle that because of it, I needed a very high position when prone. I needed a very high rear bag and of coarse extend the bipod legs too.

As we all know, a higher position is a less stable one. In the end I took it off and actually use the normal grip for competition, that way I could get lower.

I still think it looks trick as all heck and is great when not shooting prone.

I wish someone would make a pistol grip where you could add the hand stop into the hollow hole inside the bottom of an otherwise normal length grip. That way we could add or remove the hand stop depending on our position and objectives. Best of both worlds in one grip. It's totally doable.

Caliber is plain old .308 Win. ;)

The only time I have had issues with the grip hand stop is when trying to keep low on a sloped surface (such as a roof). Other then thay I haven't had any issues. I do have the factory Ergo grip w/o the hand stop that came with the chassis if I decide I need to swap.

What you suggest could be done........I may play around with that idea when/if I get some spare time from the sewing machine.......lol.

I do the same... Switch back a forth. Out of laziness I'm usually back than forth though.

I've been in touch with the manufacturer on the point and made the recommendation I mentioned above. They luv the idea and say they welcome the tip and will be developing a new version that will have a removable palm shelf that will pop in and out much like a mag in a pistol.

That way you can eject when you need low and pop it in for higher positions.

Wait, is the top pic rail removable?

Is it 2 separate pieces or did you cut the front portion yourself?

The top rail is two separate pieces. I made sure before I bought it.
With the 56mm obj. on my scope I do not have enough clearance between the obj. and top rail with the lens cover on. There is barely enough clearance for the obj. with the scope cover off. I didn't want to change rings right now so I opted to leave the front portain of the rail off.
In the future I may switch for a Spuhr mount for added clearance.

After the range day this morning, I swapped over to the regular Ergo grip that comes with the chassis. More room for holding the rear bag and less grip length to get in the way.
