Cleaning up a Caesar Guerini I stumbled upon. There is not a lot of information on the Jaspe model although it does resemble the current Magnus being offered on line. Does anyone have any experience with this gun and how it compares to the newer models? I also would like to find some choke tubes (Selecta?) the choke wrench and possibly the choke case and main case. These apparently went missing along the way. I only have the one marked CYL SKEET and IMP CYL. If anyone knows a retailer that might have some I would appreciate the info. The newer Maxis chokes seem to be common and I did find some extended, but I would prefer the flush ones like it came with.

It appears to be a very nice gun and is cleaning up nicely. I haven't shot it yet as the stock was bone dry and the internals were all gummed up with what appears to be a thick grease. It is a nice light field gun that balances nicely but it was a compulsive rescue that I am concerned I may have leaped without looking.

Thanks for any help or info.

I'm not familiar with the Jaspe model but if I'm not mistaken it was made for the UK and EU market, I suspect it's probably a variation of the Magnus. I've had/got other CG guns and if the Jaspe is anything like them then it's a good quality gun and there should be nothing to be concerned with.
My Summit Sporting has "Selecta" etched on the extended choke tubes and they are recent manufacture so it shouldn't be too hard tracking them down. My Tempio Light doesn't have the same etching on the flush tubes so maybe it's just an extended tube thing.

I was coming to the same conclusion after translating a bunch from EU forums. It appears to be a bit of a scaled down Magnus as it only has 2 gold birds and a little less engraving. The US Magnus has 2 gold pheasants on each side, this one has a pheasant on one side and a duck on the other. The wood is awesome but there appears to be fancier stuff on some models.

It does have a rounded Prince of Wales type stock. From translations on EU forums "Jaspe" either refers to the case hardening or the tortoise color of this particular case hardening. It is certainly not as engraved as the Magnus shown on the Ceasar Guerini USA site but it appears to be the exact build. They would of course show off an exceptional example on line. I can't imagine this one was ever starting at $5385 USD like the Magnus on line but it looks to be a step up on the Woodlander. The basic receiver looks identical to the case hardening on the Woodlander but on this model they added side plates and the gold birds. The stock on this one appears a step up on the Woodlander but not as nice as the Magnus they are displaying.

I have it all stripped down but I will take some pictures after reassemble. The fitting and polish of the internals is most impressive. Some seem slightly over engineered but very robust. I have only had the Beretta SP 1 and my FAIRs stripped down to the bones but I would dare say that much more time and effort was put into this gun. The attention to detail is obvious. I won't say better as the others function flawlessly but time was taken to meticulously polish parts that never come into contact as a wear surface. Quite impressive to make aesthetically pleasing parts that will nearer see the light of day. I thought the stiffness was just gummed up neglect but after careful examination it is easy to see that this gun has been fired very little. There is the slightest bit of wear on the fore stock metal and barrel where the forearm locks up. Everything else looks tight as new.

I hope it shoots good for me as I am in pretty deep.

It's starting to look like a shotgun again

I found an original hard case for which is on route from Ontario but still no chokes. If someone has a lead on some flush mount choke tubes I would much appreciate it.
