What does this mean when the lower on an AR15 is stamped with this?
(will it chamber .223 and 5.56?)

The markings on the receiver mean nothing. The word "multi" was used by some manufacturers so that a barrel chambered in 9mm, or .45, or 6.8, or whatever could be installed and the markings wouldn't be inaccurate

It doesn't really mean anything. You're better off looking at the stamp on the barrel or asking the manufacturer/retailer.

Also, some others may disagree but it's generally accepted that a 5.56 chamber with fire both 5.56x45 and .223 Remington ammunition. A .223 Remington chamber on the other hand is not generally considered safe to fire 5.56x45 ammunition from.

That's the way I understand it anyways.

It's because the US State Dept. won't let you export anything that is stamped 5.56.

Thats exactly what it is. Talked to the manufacture this morning. Its a DOS export law. US military says 5.56 so no one else's can.

Good to go with .223 or 5.56 through that rifle.

aeroprecision lowers are marked "multi" :)

Depends on the export officer that approves the shipment from what I was told.
There was a full shipment of AR's that just arrived on the east coast stamped 5.56...no rime or reason in this buisness...

Considering mine says multi I might just switch barrel (or upper anyway) and make it a 300blk. My registration says nothing about barrel length or caliber anyway
