Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a reliable supply for handgun bullets in Calgary. Specifically, I am looking for 185gr .45 hollow point bullets to reload (prefer Gold Dot or XTP).
I tried Wholesale, but they are always out.
I went to Bass Pro Shop north of the city, and treated like I was a pedophile. They told me in no uncertain terms that they do not sell handgun reloading components, nor handguns in their store (yet they sell handgun calibre reloading dies....hmm).
Anyway, guess I have my made my first and last trip there.

If anyone can help me out, it would be appreciated.

Mike

Best supplier I know of is Mystic Precision. They are not in Calgary but he can get anything fairly fast. He's a member here (mysticprecision) and a dealer. look at the banner ads top right hand corner of this page. He does mailorder. Fast and good pricing.

AIM projectiles has a distributor in Calgary. They are great bullets at a good price, and the fellow who sells them is great to deal with.

Hornady XTPs are nice bullets but pricey if you are just looking for something for the range

i can't help you with the name brand HP's. however if you want 230 grain FMJ i can help you out. 185 45 HPs are few and far between in Canada.

and you've tried these and they work ok?- i've got one bone stock 45acp( a remington rand ) and a colt mk 4 series 70 and had nothing but trouble with 185's- not enough "oomph " to push the slide all the way back- - switch to 200 grain lswc's by plains, and no such problems- i could see it with the colt and it's heavier spring, but the stock?????

I've spent alot of time feeding my 9mm.Aim projectiles have been the most economical. They have a distributer in calgary.:50cal: I'm sure they make 45 also.google aim projectiles.

I like the 185, too.

You can sometimes mail order bullets from WS and get them faster.

The Shooting Edge has a small selection of reloading stuff. Didn't see any 185s last week but that could change.

Ditto Pro Line on 9th.

Oh, and I just bought some pistol primers from Bass Pro, so maybe you got the gun dept anti serving you?

UFA in Red Deer has a goodly selection from time to time.

You could always get a mold from Lee and start making your own bullets. I haven't found any either in a long time, so I'm holding on to my ONE box of Nosler, 185 gr HP bullets I have got my hands on.
TSE is in the process of bulking up in the reloading dept and hopefully that will become reality soon.
