Just wondering if the Easter Calgary Gun show is the Big one of the year for the area?
I would think it would be before hunting season with new year models on display?
The Calgary motorcycle show is in Jan, to kick off that years riding season. Just thought it would be the same.

Anyway info would be helpful!!!
Thanks Andrew

I believe most of the dealers are from across Canada (primarily Manitoba and west). I've never found any stellar deals so far but have always found something that I was looking for (ammo, parts, etc.) The biggest thing is to know your prices before you go in. Lots of stuff being sold for above what you'd see in the EE and often in rougher shape.

once you have been to a few of the local shows, you will find most tables are the same guys with the same high priced stuff.

the deals to be found are from the smaller shows like springbank where old guys are just there to unload old stuff.

the huge show at the stampede grounds is a HUGE gong show! insane amounts of people on the opening day!!!! way to many people to be able to browse. you find yourself adrift in the flow of people with no room to stop and look at things.
the second day is much calmer i hear.
i have not seen any great deals at that show either.
in my opinion, one is better off to just know what they want, watch the EE, then work one on one to make a deal.

ive gone to all the local shows over the last 2 years and come home with nothing but a cheap little cooey i got from an old man for a good price.

im not at all saying these shows are a waste... there is always lots to see and people to meet, but price wise, the EE is better ive found.
they are still a fun way to spend a friday/saturday no matter what you buy.

just my opinion.

Springbank Show!

Don't waste your time. Just a couple of tables here and there amoungst flea market stuff and furniture.

The only thing that was worth while going at the last thronecliff gun show was that one of the guys gave my 2 year old a toy solider that he plays with on a daily basis.

i have fun at them all, keep your eyes open... pull that trigger first and buy, often gone quick.

This here^^^

Every gun show has the potential to be 'the one', and every show has something interesting, if you are able to figure out that sometimes it's not all about getting the exact gun you want at garage sale prices.

Go to look at new guns and get hands on, compare prices from different dealers, or just to see the cool junk that guys have dug out to bring to show off.

The Calgary show is a great show to wander around at. Lots of collectors displays (they are judged on them and awarded prizes) lots of stuff you cannot buy, on display, like a table full of Full Auto stuff, and other prohibs, usually at least a couple tables of custom gun makers or outfitters, and always lots of miscellaneous parts and stuff related to shooting.

If you go in with the mindset that you are going to have a good day wandering around looking at guns n' stuff, you'll never go away disappointed.

Bring folding money, have a good idea what prices are, if shopping new, so you can recognize a deal if it's in front of you, and be prepared to act when an opportunity presents itself, as it likely won't be there when you come back for it. BTDT.

Cheers

Is there any place one can read about the procedure for buying at a show in Canada? Is it possible to purchase restricted firearms? What happens if you can't get through to get the ATT or transfer done that day?

With the current rules, as far as i know.

non-restricted: "transferred"(lent) immediately with PAL shown and info given, few days later seller contacts you with the reference number.

restricted:deposit/payment is made than it is transferred with gov and is delivered/picked up when all is clear.

Dose Sundre still have their gun show.I got my best deals there.Used to like it when Blue Mountain had their show next door to the gun show.Made for a full day or even two days of looking.
