Tell us what's hot and whats not!

Garands, SKS, Mausers, Johnsons, G43, M14, Dewats, Lugers, P38's, Moisin Nagant, Enfields, .....

What did ya drag Home! How were the prices? Grits? Pics!

Picked up a used Bushnell 3200 scope for a 17 HMR recently purchased here.

As well as a few cheap "tacticool" parts that I plan to adapt to use in my Ruger 10/22. Not my most used gun anymore but it is a hit to new shooters who have grown up with FPS games.

Grabbed me a Fenix PD30 for $55 including batteries as well.

Wish I could afford some of the Coopers that were at the Prophet River table, beautiful items to behold.

saw two zf41 scoped russian captured rifles. both priced at 2900. Didnt have a chance to get a proper look at the mounts, as to if they were originals or builds. Quite a few interesting pieces this year.

Bought virtually nothing, Weaver bases for a Remington M700, case lube, decapping pins. Prices there were a joke from the phoney Lee Enfield #4 Mk1 (T) re-pro for $3,200.00, to $1000.00 Walther P-38's. Mind you I did have a feeling that the 100 plus year old Winchester 94's had dropped $200.00 in price from last year.

An awesome M1911 Squad Cleaning kit 95% complete, in excellent condition.
A USMC Kabar with a killer early WW2 scabbard.
Finally found a Corgi 1/72 P-38 Lightning...looks great next to the 1/72 B-17F Flying Fortress.
The only complaint...$3.00 bottle of Dasani water...thanks Calgary Stampede for the profit margin.

Posted in bits in other threads but here's my recap from a milsurp perspective.

Two (T)s..the repro previously mentioned then a genuine BSA S51 conversion, albeit with a mismatched scope, with paperwork showing purchase back in the 60s.

Three, count 'em, three Johnsons. I don't know anything about these, but the one "as is" for $1800 had a badly broken stock, there was another for $3300, and I didnt' catch the price on the third. Broomhandle Mausers for up to $7,500. A working "Ma Deuce" .50-cal M2 (not for sale, I don't think), dewat Stens and Brens, a couple of Canadian-contract Colt .45 Autos (not including "Billy Bishop's .45" . A couple of Ross 1905 Mk II's. All for more money that I both had, and was willing to spend.

What did I buy? Three boxes of DI .303 ammo - One VIIz, and two VII in their original packaging, an aftermarket mag for my Luger, and a S&W in .455 I found tucked away at one of the smaller tables. Pics here once transfer/transport concluded and, yes, $2 coffees, $3 waters and $12 parking.

I picked up an "All Matching" Cheese Burger and Fries, every piece was numbered the same. The Soft Drink was a Mis-Match Though but matched itself. I must have forgot it and left it behind at the show.

Got a No4 MK1* longbranch with a shiny bore and mostly matching for $325(also has MP carved in the forestock, Oh well) , Dunno If I got ripped off or not, but it was the cheapest there compared to all of the "all matching" No4 MK1* for $650. I am content with my purchase.

Only extra milsurps I brought home was a Swiss 1911 carbine as well as a boxed #4 scopeless sniper that Mr Haynes kindly delivered to the show for me.

Other purchases were a few lever rifles

I had a decent show....sold some - bought some. Outoftowner - let us know how that LB shoots for you.

Good show

This was my first time at this show. There was a lot to see and something for every type of shooter, it was close to 3 hours to just walk by every table (with the occasional stop).

As with any gun show, a lot of overpriced stuff (I however, love to haggle). If you searched there were some deals to be had.

Nice that they let ladies in for free, so I made the wife buy the obligatory hot dogs.

I found a couple odds and ends I needed and learned a few new tricks.

I overheard someone talking about a way that a new shooter could get 12.6 on their PAL, something to do with getting on a provincial team. I suppose it bears looking into, though I have my doubts.

Overall the best gun show I have been to in Canada, I will go again.

Hello fellow gun nutz.

Regarding the Calgary show and the comments about the high prices. Well, I have been going to this show for a few years now and kinda live for it. It gives us gun nutz a chance to see all the goodies, learn about our hobby and hopefully meet some fellow gun nutz and generally talk about guns, and make some good contacts and that in itself is worth the money, and yes some stuff if high priced (some of it was very resonable), but you know what?, we don't have to buy it. You gotta remember there are lots of guys selling stuff there just to support their habits and I think we need to give a BIG kudos to guys like Jack W and Hank H (and many others), who continually put on this show for no personal gain of their own.
Personally, I had a blast and spent two solid days roving the tables and learning about the guns that interest me and met a lot of good guys who are genuine. Looking forward to next year, and wouldn't miss it for the world.
