Calgary M14 Clinic- What didja learn ? Debrief time.....

I went out and put 200 rounds through the new pinging m14 today. Much of this was on gongs, but the stuff I put on paper showed an obvious improvement when I compared with the record. I also noticed that the brass was easier to find. It was all in one of 2 meter diameter circles rather then all over the place. I didn't expect that.

Carbonrod the 3006 shell can also be used to diassemble the bolt as well

clinically speaking

My name is Mike and I have an M14 problem. Well, OK, not so much a problem any more!! The clinic was absolutely outstanding. All my questions were answered, as well as some questions I never thought of, or ran across. Hungry, no maggie's drawer's here, nothing but 10 ring! Savage, excellent work and support. The same goes to everyone who assisted and was involved.
Sosa & I will be working toward the Edmonton stop in the next tour. Hopefully we can squeeze some chopmod time in as well.
So much to learn, so little time. It was great to put faces to names. Jay T, coming back to Wainwright to hunt...........let's talk riverboat in GP? Sousa, windblown jeep = nimble & responsive. Wally, I am looking forward to seeing your next M14.
Also, that M1 trick, how handy will that be? Sousa & I will be changing some pingees this week.

Thanks to Hungry, Savage and TSE for this one. I learned a lot and had a good time doing it. I'm still going to bug you Savage for more info on the chop mod M-14. Count me in for the next ones. Good to meet fellow Gunnutz.

Video

:) I am sorry to have missed what was obviously a great info session.
Since there was the mention of a video; I am assuming the session was recorded. Someone please advise me where I may purchase one or two copies.

Hungry here: Send me a private message (PM) and I'll give you the particulars to send payment (EMT, Cash, MO) to me. I've just burned more sets after selling 10 of them at the Calgary clinic. We cannot record any of the clinics anymore due to Operation Security (many of the CGNutters are serving members ready to serve in Asskrakistan). The version that is the best, longest and readily available is the 2004 Skullboy hosted (me) clinic in Abbotsford.

livesound you have got to attend one of these ULTRA informative clinics!! I am still realing with all the info Hungry and Savage jammed into my brain. I am constantly tweaking and refining my pages and pages of notes. It is also awesome to be able to pick Hungry's brain. Nothing beats a live session. Yes the DVD is very informative but live is mind numbing!

not only do you get hungry's info you get to network with other gunnutter's and see all the custom toys of your friends.

Side note; Hey Hungry got me a 3 second ping now!!!! I will update you when I prove it at the range. I am looking forward to next years clinic!!! Hope I can make it!!

M-14 Clinic Feedback

I attended this class on the 10th of this month and was very impressed with the amount of knowledge I left with, outstanding class ! My 2 cents worth is that I did not want to leave and would actually like to see a weekend clinic ( 2 days, class and range ) starting with doing the basic mods and upgrades in a classroom under the observation of the master and the next day an actual confirmation shoot at a local range facility on the firing line to test the upgrades and get a practical confirmation that all these small upgrades work , giving confidence to the owner that he is doing it the right way. Also perhaps an intro from Hungry into procedures and techniques of shooting our beloved rifles and a U.S Camp Perry style M-14 NRA high power style match competition fun shoot, is it similar to what one would experience at CFSAC ? Anyways I left with a wealth of knowledge and hope to attend more of his clinics this comming year in Ab. It was great to meet other fellow nuts and have a common bond, everyone was great, sharing tips, tools and expertise. Lets take are Norinco M-305's from just accurate shooters and tweak them as close to wannabe U.S. M-21 / M-25 standards over the next year as possible thru these clinics. Great clinic. Thanks again Hungry and Savage. gladius 2 .

I learnt (from reading this) that you should hold one in Ottawa:)

Where were you when I held an M14 clinic at the Grenville F&GC range last August?

I attended the OSA clinic at Milcun in July, and felt generous enough to spread the love in Ottawa. A couple of CGNers and a walk-on from the host club learned about the ping, drilling spot welds, shims and where to put the lube. I used Hungry's teachings while they were fresh in my mind, and gave back to the community.

I encourage anyone who takes the Hungry clinic to teach that same information back to their clubs and to their buddies. You will never be as knowledgible as the Master, but we don't have M14 gunsmiths in Canada. Any little bit of teaching helps the next guy.
