Any issues with changing the caliber (new barrel) on a Remington 700 CDL (left hand) ?

Does it have to be a "L/H specific" barrel, or will any 700 barrel work ?

Also, what caliber limitations would I be restricted to, starting with a .223 action ?

* wanting .270 Win, but would go with a .308 also...

Thanks in advance...

The barrel would not be an issue but the 223 boltface would require a new bolt to go to a 308 class cartridge and a whole new action for a 270. It would be simpler and cheaper to buy a new rifle in the caliber you want and keep the 223 for varmints.

The action and bolt are not suitable for anything but a 222/223 case.

If you want a larger cartridge trade this towards what you need...

Guess I'm just not going to buy it...

I need something bigger than .223 to comply with Alberta hunting Regs, and don't want .243 or .260 really...

Thanks guys.

Doesn't really matter if you dont like 243 or 260 cause neither of those cartridges would fit in a 223 based action. Realistically you'd be limited to something like 300 Blackout with that action.

You could convert it to a 6mm x 47 based on the .222 Magnum case... it is the absolute smallest case capacity legal in Alberta for game...
