Caliber debat

7mm-08

My wife uses a 7mm-08 and it has worked fine on both deer and moose.

Moose load consists of a 160 gr Nosler Partition in front of 49.0 gr Ramshot Hunter / WLR / Nosler cases for just shy of 2700 fps. It puts moose down.

You might consider either a .270 or a .280 in addition to the 7-08. A pal of mine is a great fan of the .25/06 and has used it successfully for moose, but he's a cut above the average in terms of field marksmanship and hunting prowess. He has since upgraded to the .280, but he still holds the .25/06 in high esteem. I'm sort on the other side of the spectrum, in that I think a big case .375 makes a nice moose gun, even though it might be considered slightly excessive by some. A properly designed bullet impacting the vital zone at a moderate velocity will kill a moose, regardless of caliber or cartridge design.
