Caliber for my second rifle...suggestions?

I agree that with the post that you have the close cover bush rifle and should look to get some sort of longer ranged rifle. I think a nice 270 or 300 WSM would be just the ticket or a 7mm Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag if longer actions tickle your fancy.
 
Get a Russian SKS and 2 crates of surplus ammo.
Then get a couple of boxes of Softpoint right before next hunting season.

All for about 600$


Seriously though, if I already had a 300 Savage, I'd go with a either a .270wsm or other flatshooting long range gun. Would drop moose and Elk well too.
