Caliber Head Stamp Remington 7600

Can you tell me if all the 7600s have the caliber head stamp in front of the mag well? My Deluxe has it. My friend wants one in 243 and we can only find the plane wood stocked version, but he wants it to have that feature.

I have only ever seen this on the Deluxe version not the standard

I pulled mine out of the dark corner of the safe so my friend could drool over it yesterday and noticed it's actually a Model Six. It's not really mine, my brother died and his widow gave it to me to hang onto a few years back. Closest thing I found for him was a 7600 with gloss finish but it's in 270. The gun is supposed to be a gift for his son so I told him 270 might be better, just in case they wanna go for moose or elk in the future.
He left disappointed, as the Model Six is not for sale

IIRC the Model Six and the corresponding Model Four were a little better grade (wood/finish) than the 7600/7400 series.

I was kind of wondering about this!!! I had never seen a 7600 with the caliber head stamp before.

Yup-just the Four and the Six had the cartridge head in the bottom of the receiver

Only the model 4 & 6 had the case heads in them . They were matched in what ever cal. the gun was made , even Winchester caliber names .

this was kind of an homage to the Remington model 14 pump, that had case heads inserted into it.

When production ended for the Four and Six, remaining barrels were used on the 7400's and the 7600's. There are not likely too many of them around.
I have a bunch of those inserts, in various calibre designations, that some folks seem to like using to decorate their guns.
