Call to CFC

Artie,
Unfortunately I'm not sure that everyone does know where its heading. Otherwise I would expect more efforts to counter it.

Tracking is a very general term. I think its scares a lot of people form accepting your post. Rock On! :D

warrenb,

Your points are valid. You obviously get it.

For those that don't, just look at the historical record and drop the "it ain't ever going to happen here" belief.

As for scaring people, well they should be (given the historical record). The "tracking" aspect is simple:
The powers that be want to know where you and your guns are for one simple purpose... to eventually get rid of you and/or your guns to so one will stand in the way of their agenda/end game.

Pretty clear.

In her situation, I say she has no resonability whatsoever. She didn't draft the legislation or put it into law. I say kudos to her for choosing to work over EI.

SuperCub, I agree with a number of your posts. I have also had good service from the CFC. Very simple reason for amnesty and good service - they want to track your property and be able to do what they need to do in the interest of Canada... Takes a minute to register a gun, to take one out of the system takes a little longer - need certificates, receipts, RCMP contact details...

Also keep in mind there are numerous examples of laws being passed that took peoples' property (and lives) and the people taking the property (and lives) simply said we didnt pass the law, we need a job, better them than us...

Property been tracked, people been tracked, it has all happened before... Bad economic times, charismatic leaders, protectionism, we are better than them...

There are times to look beyond the nice smiley happy person and see what is happening and hold people accountable for what they are doing.

Though she may be "working" rather than on EI we should be very clear about something - my taxes pay for EI, my taxes pay her salary, I would rather that she be on EI and look for a different job than be paying her to be part of the registry system. In terms of economic impact or being socially useful, paying her to do nothing or paying her to work for the registry system about equally useful... (actually, I would argue that more useful for her to be paid to do nothing).

I for one am just glad that there are a lot of friendly helpful people working for the registry and not a lot of uptight, rabid anti-gun fanatics making our lives difficult.

Of course, if there were more maybe resistance to the whole thing would build to the point that it would be even more of a joke and collapse because of ZERO respect and compliance.....

Wouldn't it be nice if all these good folks were on the phone taking orders for the cool things that we would be buying if all the stupid prohibitions were dropped? Maybe thats the economic stimulation that we need! :D

"...So ....... based on what you say would you quit a good paying job in an auto factory given the fact that the product you provide causes green house gas and provides much needed global warning? ..."

Just want to point out that greenhouse gas is overstated, man has not caused climate change and it's been going on since day one. The auto sector is bad, however, in that it's stealing tax money to prop up bad business practice while punishing businesses that follow sound practice by propping up their inferior competition. Additionally unethical, it places the financial burden on our children to pay for the money we spend today while in deficit.
So I agree with you in principal Supercub, but I have issue with your example.

And now, back on topic, I've had good experiences with staff at CFC as well. Too bad about their raison d'etre (sic)
