I am thinking of building a lightweight 25/284 and have some questions for the guys that ACTUALLY SHOOT/OWN ONE.

What is your case making process? Do you simply run 284 cases thru your sizer and trim to length? Or do you need to neck turn or neck ream before loading?

And I am interested in actual velocities using a 100gr bullet (nosler or barnes would be ideal).

Would you build one again?

I pulled the guts out of my seater die, took a 284 case, lubed inside of the neck with Qtip covered in RCBS lube & lubed the case body and neck - ran into the gutless seater die then ran it into the sizer die (minus expander ball) then ran into the size with ex. ball in. Worked good.

my load data :

75 gr. - Hornady Vmax @ 2.758", 50.0 grs. RL15, F210M ~ 3651 fps avg

85 gr. - Nosler Ballistic Tip @ 2.82", 57.5 grs. H4831sc, F210M ~ 3417 fps avg.

100 gr. - Barnes XLC, 59.0 grs. H1000, WLR ~ 3276 fps
- Hornady SP, 54.0 grs. H4831sc, WLR ~ 3342 fps

110 gr. - Nosler Accubond @ 2.83", 53.0 grs. H4831sc, F210M ~ 3177 fps, .

117 gr. - Hornady BTSP, 52.0 grs. H4831sc, WLR ~ 3087 fps,

It was a 700 SA with a 24.5" King barrel. Good rifle & very accurate, but I prefer the 260 Remington myself. Very similar ballistics with less powder, and the option of a high BC heavy 140 gr bullet.
