I finally jumped into the 300 BO AR game, and need a starting point for some heavy hitters. I grabbed a few pounds of Missouri Bullet Co 245gr coated lead and some CFE BLK powder. The plan was subsonic plinkers inside 100 metres.

I have a 12.5 inch (AR) barrel, pistol length gas system, and a 1/8 twist rate. I can't seem to find any data on the 245s with CFE BLK powder. CFE BLK is just slower than AA 1680 on the burn rate charts, so I'm thinking they should be close, but not exact.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I meant to reload some 208gr pills for subsonic with 1680 but never got around to it. I too am interested in a subsonic load for shiz & giggles.

I use A1680 for my subsonic 208gr loads, never tried CFE BLK. If I remember correctly it was just over 12gr to get it to cycle and was no longer subsonic past 12.8gr. I would have to check my logbook to verify though since I'm sitting at work right now and haven't played with 300BLK subs for a while.
I also have a 300BLK bolt action which is much easier to load sub for, I have a nice 150gr FMJ over Trailboss load that is nice and quiet but I doubt it will cycle a semi.

Thanks CR5. I'll make note of that for next time I'm reloading 208gr pills.

Humm, might have to look into a Ruger American Ranch 300BLK rifle. :p

no luck from the big H. the response was "we have no data for that heavy of bullet". The search continues I guess. I have read that some guys are using SMK 220 gr bullet data and they claim a close equivalent. +- 10% lighter jacketed = heavier "powder coated" lead cast, I'm not sure.

Thanks CR5. I'll make note of that for next time I'm reloading 208gr pills.

I have a buddy looking to sell his CZ527 in 300BLK. PM me if you're interested and I'll get you in touch with him (he's on this site as well)
