Was able to get one at auction, an M91 TS dated 1899 converted at F.A.G in 1938 to M91/28.

I've had many Carcanos. I've found them to be moderately good rifles and I've probably owned more of them then any other milsurp rifle. If like them try to find a good M91 those rifles are usually excellent shooters.
 
I know this gun... it’s not a 91/28 though. That’s an 1891 carbine which would have originally had the earlier transverse lug and was updated. 91/28s will have a barrel dated to the 20s.

91/28s are M91 TS carbines, just produced to the later pattern. Production of the updated M91 TS Carbine just resumed in 1928. This one as he said was updated to the later standard.
