Posted this over in the black/green shotgun forum, but I might get more traffic here...

I wondered into Proline today and happened across a barrel shroud for a 1897 Trench gun. I figure that gun was a bit of a black gun in its day, so I figured I'd ask about the shroud here. I'll get pics up shortly.

The shroud looks like an after market deal. The blueing is almost russian refurb purple up at the bayonet mount, but the rest is black. And the screws for mounting the shroud to the barrel are actually hex heads. Honestly I'm not sure of the lineage, but I figured I could swap the screws for someone proper looking and build up a Norc 1897 into a trench gun clone.

Let me know what I found and who made it if you can.

Actually, just found this online. Have been looking for a while tonight.

Looks like it is a IMA "International Military Antiques" website photo. The website says...

"This is a steel reproduction that can be retro-fitted to your pump action 97 Winchester or similar weapon to bring it to "Trench Gun" specifications. Yet another scarce WWI accessory that is now available as a reproduction."

Figured as much. Guess it will still fit the bill on a Norinco clone job haha.

The Allen heas screws kind of date it, especially if they are Metric. Original shields had slotted head screws.

Numrich had them for sale, (reproductions) for about $120 at one time.
