Hey all,

I just came across this picture and am having a hard time figuring out the setup.

Here are my questions.
What length is this barrel?
Where is the gas block?
How are they holding the handguard in place?

Here's what I was thinking, so please pick it apart if it's do able or not.
7.5" barrel
Low pro gas block that's about 1" long,
run the handguard cap in front of the gas block and hold it on by using compensator.
Then use a carbine size handguard.

Looks great, but no front sight.

Thanks for any input.

7.5" barrel, low-profile gas block, pistol-length gas tube, Magpul MOE handguard with cap hidden inside, Hera straight-line comp, Magpul MIAD grip and UBR stock. I built one similar with the same comp, but using a 10.5" barrel and a 13" Troy Alpha battlerail. The comp just barely sticks out the front of the rail.

Post a pic please

Sure, I can post one later tonight when my camera brings back my wife. I only have the upper right now, the lower is still being made.

Update: OK, here are a couple of pics of the upper in its current stage of build.

For those of you interested in the details, it is a VLTOR MUR-1 billet upper receiver, Norc 10.5" barrel, NEA barrel nut, Troy low-pro gas block, Troy 13" Alpha battlerail, HERA comp, BCM gunfighter charging handle, Norc BCG, and a Vortex SPARC. Still waiting for a set of LMT fixed sights that will be co-witnessed with the SPARC.

• 7.5" is the barrel length.
• The gas block is a Hera low profile hidden under a Magpul carbine hand guard.
• Hera jury-rigged/machined a special part to hold the hand guard in place

This is from Hera directly, and more specifically - the guys responsible for building it in this configuration for the photos. I think your plan could work; the trick will be getting the hand guard cap in the right place (you may need some spacers).

Thanks for the inside info blaxsun!

This thread was going a little of course. :)

My thoughts exactly on the spacer. My plan is to build a spacer ring and run the spacer on the outside(in front) of the cap so that when the compensator hits the end of it's thread the cap will be pushed rearward into the right position.

Some lathe and micrometer work.

I have a hera comp, but want to try it with my Dlask XB1 instead.

Still waiting on a barrel, but I'll post pics when I get closer.

No problem. They were supposed to send me a picture of the part they built, but it never did materialize... I haven't measured the lengths involved, but it's also possible that the cap could be mounted on the flat part of the compensator (where it's tightened). Please do keep us posted!

That's real ###y I like
