Am thinking of picking up an electronic predator call for bringing in some coyotes on a future trip to Alberta to hunt with some friends.

Have seen the Johnny Stewart calls, both tape deck style and digital PredatorMaster, on eBay for reasonable prices but am not sure just what to shop for. Are the Johnny Stewart calls fairly good? Digital or tape? How about the FoxPro callers?

Thanks,
ILBR

Both the Johnny Stewart and FoxPro callers have good reputations. The FoxPro FX3 is apparently the latest and greatest, but it is pricey. Definitely go with the digital caller if you can afford it.

Best use it to practice your mouth-blown calling technique. Electronic calls are illegal to hunt with in Alberta.

Forget the digital and go with a mouth call. With one good call, you can make several different sounds for different situations plus way cheaper.

Ouch. Thats terrible. And I don't suppose there's a rationale for that law ...

Rationale?????

The only possible rationale is that an electronic call might make it easier to call in the coyotes.
